Overview

This is a great choice for your short stay in the island, and also a great way of soaking in your guide´s wisdom ant tips, which will help you better plan your next days. Furnas is on of the main craters of the island and where the volcano activity can be closely observed in all its splendor. We will cover: Furnas lake, geysers, steam cooking pods and water fountains. While in Furnas indulge yourself in a steaming bath at Poça da D. Beija (1 ticket per person included), great even under winter weather and that will relax your mind and rejuvenate your muscles. After replenish your energies with local delicacies: the "Bolo Lêvedo'' (yeast cake); corn or even the famous “cozido” cooked on the boiling waters of the volcano (meals are not included and are optional) To complete this amazing experience, we also include the tea plantation, and the great Lagoa do Fogo. This is the perfect day in São Miguel even if it's raining!

Expert guide that customized the day for us

Carlos was our guide, and we were in awe of his expertise and knowledge. He was very friendly, easygoing, and seemed to genuinely enjoy what he was doing. Overall he was great company and also gave us space at times to explore. He was flexible with our itinerary a bit given that the hot springs were closed (due to natural reasons) and that my crew had already (accidentally) visited Lagoa do Fogo. This was one of the better guided tours I've ever done. Thanks, Carlos!

Make this tour a priority when visiting Sao Miguel island

We spent the day exploring the east end of Sao Miguel island with Rita and could not have been more pleased. Rita is highly professional and knowledgeable as well as warm and engaging, as if we were traveling with a friend. Rita shared local history, culture, and interesting anecdotes all along the way. In fact, we enjoyed our time so much that we booked a west end tour with her. Time on this tour and with Rita is time well-spent on the island.

My guide was a teacher/professor and was extremely knowledgeable about his country. He went above and beyond to make sure I saw everything possible even though the weather was terrible with rain, fog and wind.

Don’t hesitate book this tour! It’s one of the best we’ve ever had. Carlos, our guide was super knowledgeable, so obliging, polite, and spoke perfect English. He showed us one end of the island to the other. He was so generous with his knowledge and time, we were very impressed. The island is gorgeous, and he is very proud of his home. Again, book this tour!

Don’t hesitate, this is one of the best tours we’ve ever taken Carlos, our guide, who was absolutely the greatest, spoke perfect English and knew every every single site to bring us He was courteous, effective, and so full of knowledge.
