USS Bowfin (SS-287) is a fleet attack submarine that fought in the Pacific during WWII, and helped to make famous the term, āSilent Service.ā Bowfin was launched on 7 December 1942, exactly one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was nicknamed the Pearl Harbor Avenger, so it is fitting that her permanent home is at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Moored off its shores on Sunday, December 7, 1941, were some of the largest ships of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, in addition to the dozens of patrol and scout planes that filled the hangars and airfield, all of which were targets on that fateful morning.
