Overview

Discover the history of New Orleans through its architecture on a 2-hour walk around the French Quarter. Enjoy a leisurely stroll with a local guide to explore the many building styles prevalent in this neighborhood, with special attention to the history and the features of French and Spanish architecture. Hear the stories of the 18th and 19th century architects and families who made their mark on this unique area. Buildings included in this tour range from Creole Colonial buildings such as the Ursuline Convent and Madame John's Legacy to the 20th Century Louisiana Supreme Court. Your group will be no more than 14 people allowing for a more intimate, personal experience.

    Chartres Street stops include buildings with historic significance that span from our Spanish Era into the American Period.

    Royal Street is another great strolling street full of shops and restaurants. On this street, our guests will learn more about how to identify different types of buildings.

Caroline was a great tour guide. We learned quite a bit about the buildings architecture and about the city in general. We had a great time.

Great tour that gives overview of history, culture and architecture. Take at beginning of your visit. You’ll see, appreciate, and understand so much more about the French Quarter as you walk around. Caroline our guide was amazing. Loved her stories of women who had an impact through history, her ability to use stories to integrate history facts and culture. Also loved that she gave great tips on things to do/see on rest of our trip. We’ve done most of them - all fantastic recommendations.

Great introduction to and overview of New Orleans history, culture and architecture

This tour was amazing! Our guide, Carolyn, was extremely knowledgeable but also very skilled in weaving together the history and people that resulted in the mix of styles we see in the French Quarter. Her stories of women who had shaped the quarter were fascinating and brought a personal perspective. And she had a numerous photos and artifacts to bring the stories to life. Carolyn was great in conveying a ton of information that could be dry in an engaging way. She also took time to point out additional places we should visit during our trip. All in all a great 5+ star experience with Carolyn. Highly recommend!!

It was a highly informative experience! Great tour guide with a high level of knowledge. My favorite part was seeing the LaBranche house and the guide's descriptions of everything.
