Overview

This tour covers about 50 miles within the city, mostly outside of the French Quarter. It is private, meaning that only your guests travel with us.  Explore historic neighborhoods and learn the history of the region. Hear about the effects of Hurricane Katrina and ongoing recovery efforts throughout the city. Hotel pickup and drop-off, transport by private minivan/minibus, and local guide are included. This tour is priced for 4 people; the cost increased with additional people. This is our most popular tour. Please contact us BEFORE booking to confirm availability and meeting locations.

Itinerary

  • New Orleans City Park

    We start in the French Quarter and explain the basic history of the city before driving throughout the city to visit many historic neighborhoods, covering about 50 miles. We see Marigny, Esplanade Avenue, a cemetery, City Park, the lakefront, St. Charles Avenue, the University Section, Garden District, and the central busins district.

  • Lakefront Arena (Pass By)

    This is where the storm surge in Hurricane Katrina made landfall.

  • Audubon Park (Pass By)

    We discuss the invention of granulation of sugar, the 1884 World's Fair, plantations, and uptown New Orleans.

  • Tulane University (Pass By)

    We discuss Tulane, Loyola, and all universities in the city.

  • Garden District (Pass By)

    We discuss the development of the City of Lafayette and the struggles between the French and the newcomers from the northeast after the Louisiana Purchase.

  • Central Business District (Pass By)

    We discuss the developing American Sector of the city, the World War II Museum, art district, Lafayette Square, the Superdome and port.

Dominick was spectacular! His knowledge of New Orleans is impressive. He is very informative, welcomes all questions, drives safely and we were very comfortable not only in the vehicle but with Dominick in general. He has prepared a lengthy tour full of history and fun. We had the best time, well worth the money and highly recommend this tour!

Dominick Musso is the best tour guide that I've ever seen. His knowledge of New Orleans is simply unsurpassed, including the history of the city, how the city has prepared itself for future hurricanes and excellent restaurant recommendations, including Tableau and GW Fins, 2 of the best restaurants in the French Quarter.

Dominick was fantastic! One of the best tour guides in any city I’ve been in! He was a city planner for New Orleans and has lived in the city for generations so has a very personal and insightful engagement! Amazing!!!

Excellent Private Tour in NOLA

We were so pleased with our two, half-day tours with Dominick. Because of COVID-19, we were unable to do a driving tour with him, but he did an excellent job of adapting his tour. He contacted us by phone and email in the weeks before our visit to keep us updated on what was open and making sure he could show us the things we wanted to see. He grew up in New Orleans, and he has boundless knowledge about the history, people, geography, and sites. We would highly recommend him for your private tour.
