    The trip will start at the Old Town in Funchal city, one of the most visited places by tourists, covered with fun stories, and curious facts throughout.

  • Paroquia de Nossa Senhora do Monte

    Going towards the mountains, all the way up to Monte city. Prepare to be mesmerized with all the lovely plants, and one of the most visited churches on the island, Monte´s church. August 15th is when the day of Lady of Monte is celebrated and is the most important and most attended feast in Madeira Island. All of these fun facts and so many more will be explained to the clients by an expert driver/ storyteller.

  • Monte Palace Madeira

    The next stop will reveal one of the biggest attractions of Monte, the Monte Palace Madeira. This is one of the most visited, and adored places in the city of Funchal because of its immense and fascinating garden. A stop of one hour and a half will be made here, to take photos, enjoy the space, and why not enjoy a cup of coffee at the “Greenhouse Coffee Roaster”. This special place is not only known for its great variety of plants but also by its central lake that houses swans and ducks, some peacocks and chickens can also be found in the main areas of the property. So, be quick to take some lovely and creative shots. Inside the park, there is also the possibility to be acquainted with the museum, The Monte Palace Madeira Museum. A space that has three floors, two dedicated to sculptures amongst others, and the third is where you will find a compilation of unique minerals.

    The tour will come to an end at the famous Monte Toboggan, one of the most legendary charms on the island. This attraction dates back to the 1850s. In the 19th century, it was a typical means of transportation to go from Monte to Funchal city by the locals. Today is a mere attraction and anyone can enjoy a thrilling ride going down the hill. A tour that promises to reveal the most wonderful sites on the island of Madeira.

Tukway Madeira

The trip was excellent due to Andre our guide/driver who was not only great fun but also very knowledgeable, courteous & polite. His English was also excellent. We can thoroughly recommend him and Tukway Madeira.

Fun ride with Andre

We got picked up right on time by Andre at our hotel at 8:30. We had a fun curvy ride through narrow streets. We stopped at a perfect overlook for some pictures. And then, on his recommendation, we went to the Monte toboggans next and literally walked up and got on the first toboggan, with no wait at all around 9 AM. Andre then met us at the bottom of the toboggan ride. When we passed by there about two hours later, the line appeared to be at least an hour long. Andre was cool about stopping anywhere we asked him to (we had him stop at the church right near the toboggans). He then took us to the Monte palace Gardens. He hung around and waited for us for about 2 hours and then dropped us off wherever we wanted at the end of the tour. Very fun way to get around town.

Awesome trip with Tukway

My wife and I have had a great time in TukTuk with our driver Luis this morning. A great way to experience Madeira and even better when you have Luis as your guide!! Awesome guy with a lot of knowledge, passion and enthusiasm - 100% flexible and helpful. We had a blast and can really recommend Tukway - and if you’re lucky you will have Luis as your driver. Go for it!!

André puts the FUN in Funchal!!!

We initially hired Tukway for specific activities but when we got to the first activity, the line was so long André proposed a few other suggestions. We left the entire 4 hour trip to André and he really put the FUN in Funchal!!! André is a master at language (4 to be exact) and his knowledge of the area was tailored for our personalities. Right on, André! We'd do the Tukway TUK-TUK all over again if we could.
