We took the 2 day option to go to Brittany. We left on day one on a mid-morning train to San Malo, and had a lovely afternoon to explore and enjoy this beautiful old Town. Our hotel room was a rare sea-view room where we had a view over the wall and it was beautiful! The room was large and comfortable and the breakfast provided was good. We highly recommend this option as it makes the following day less tiring and you really get to enjoy San Malo at your own pace.
The next day we were met at our hotel by the guide who was knowledgeable, kind, and a local resident. I sadly cannot remember her name but we really enjoyed her tour. Note - this is an independent tour where the guide provides you with information on the city before you get there and then you enjoy it on your own. Perfect for us! That morning other people joined the tour and we got another hour in San Malo where we visited where we did not go the night before. Then we drove to Mont Saint Michel. Again, we were given maps and information and 4 hours to explore on our own. Due to medical issues, I walk slower than most and we barely made it back in time. But we did see the majority of the Mont but would have like 1 more hour so the return walk was not so rushed.
The final stop in Dinan was very sweet. A small town with lots of charm. We enjoyed an excellent ice cream there. But we were very tired and we're happy to get back to the van! The train rides were very comfortable, the guide excellent, and we would travel again with Paris Link.
