    Start Miyajima Walking Tour After gathering, we will board a ferry to Miyajima. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea and the iconic Otorii, Miyajima's symbol, during the boat ride. Upon reaching Miyajima, friendly deer will welcome you. We'll stroll along the coast to the Otorii Gate and then proceed to Itsukushima Shrine.

    Let's take a picture with the shrine as a backdrop! Constructed during the Heian period (794-1192), the shrine's distinctive architecture, resilient to the tides' ebb and flow, adds to its allure.

  • Daishoin Temple

    Your local guide will explain on Buddhism and the statues. Daisho-in Temple is the main temple of the Omuro school of Shingon Buddhism, located in Miyajima-cho, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The name of the temple is Takiyama, and it is also known as Takiyama Daisho-in Suisei-ji Temple. It is the oldest temple on Miyajima, and as the annex temple of Itsukushima Shrine, it has presided over rituals and supervised the priests of the shrine. The temple's principal deity is Miki-Daigongen.

    Explanation of the visit Senjamikaku is the common name for the main hall of Itsukushima Shrine's Terminal Shrine, Toyokuni Shrine, a shrine building located on Itsukushima in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is the common name for the main building of Toyokuni Shrine, the last shrine of Itsukushima Shrine. It is called Sentamikaku because it is the size of 857 tatami mats.

A Pleasant Experience on Miyajima

Hika-san was a great tour guide showing us the history and importance of Miyajima. He was very kind and knowledgeable about Miyajima and Hiroshima prefecture as a whole. You will see the shrines & temples of the island as well as a few places inbetween. We learned a lot and for us it was very personal since it was just me and my wife with him so you could say it was a really small group. It involves a decent amount of walking (up to 8 km!) So make sure you are okay with that. Hika-san if you read this, you were great and wanted to say again ありがとうございます!!

My daughter and I had a memorable day on the island of Miyajima walking and talking up and down and around and through all of the features of the island of shrines, deer and views. Thanks to Hika’s expertise, sketch book of beautiful images and information, kind and thoughtful manner and relaxed pace, we were very happy we booked this tour.

Miyajima experience to the full!

Hiro did a great job leading our group to the Torii gate and through the many Shrines and Temples on Miyajima Island. She explained the meaning of many of the processes that adherents of their religions (Buddhism and Shintoism) participate in so that I came away with an understanding of of what was happening. In addition, she took us to a delicious lunch at a local inn and we got to sample the maple leaf shaped pastries with various fillings, a specialty of the area. A exciting day of sightseeing and a learning experience.

We had a Wonderful guide Konica(?). She was young, lonely and very informative . Very good English! We Met our guide at JR train station ( note: the ferry station was one block from train station - cab driver dropped us off by lockers at ferry terminal by accident!!) . Since we were so close it was easy to fix!!! It’s a quick ferry ride over to island. We Saw everything important on island- the huge shrines, gates, the wild deer, view spot for photos and went to a small island museum. Tour is easy walking with few steps. It’s just a magnificent place to see. - don’t miss it! We had lovely simple choice of American friendly Japanese food for lunch at a local hotel restaurant. Excellent day!
