The best time is the last couple of hours before closing time when heat and crowds start to diminish - all the visitors from cruise ships start to leave (usually at four) - and the warm orange colour of the waning sun gives to Pompeii a magical atmosphere.

By far, hands down the very best tour of our 12+ tours we took in Italy over 2 1/2 weeks.
Alex was very knowledgeable about Pompeii and any questions we had for him. He moved quickly thru the site so we could see as much as possible but stopped and explained items when needed or we asked.
It was by far the best tour of our trip. HIGHLY recommended

Alex was by far the BEST tour guide we had on our whole trip. He was knowledgeable and funny, and he kept all three of our kids engaged and enthralled. They all said his tour of Pompeii was the highlight of our time in Italy. Thank you, Alex, for the memories. And be careful of your ankle!!
