Overview

Nagarkot Sunrise and hike to Changu Narayan tour takes you to the beautiful hill Nagarkot, located at an altitude of 2,195 meters. The hill offers mesmerizing sunrise views over the spectacular Himalayan range. Soak in the fresh air of the mountains and sweeping views of the Himalayas during a private 7-8 hour tour starting from Kathmandu, Patan or Bhaktapur. After sunrise, stop for the breakfast or tea/coffee at hotel in Nagarkot and start the hike to Changu Narayan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest Hindu temple in the Kathmandu Valley. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is known for its exquisite stone carvings, sculptures, and intricate architecture. The distance from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan hike is approximately 12 kilometers, and it takes around 4-5 hours to complete the hike, depending on your pace and the stops you make along the way. Please note that from Nagarkot, mountain views are only visible when the weather is clear and without clouds.

An unforgettable day in Himalays

Unforgettable Sunrise & Scenic Trek – A Truly Magical Experience! This was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip! Watching the sunrise over the majestic Himalayan peaks was absolutely breathtaking – a moment of peace and wonder we’ll never forget.

Lovely trip to Nagarkot and Changu Narayan

While the weather was a bit trying (fog and rain), the tour of Changu Narayan and hike were lovely and the guide, Pramila, and the driver were excellent. Pramila provided excellent commentary and is very knowledgable about Nepal, the Kathmandu Valley and Hindu lore.

Beautiful experience

I had a great time with our guide. Even though we had to wake up very early to watch the sunrise, it was definitely worth it. The hike is more of a walk, but it’s interesting to see how local people live in their communities and to escape the chaotic pace of Kathmandu.

Excellent hike with Himalayan views

Subash was a brilliant guide from start to finish, and he gave very good explanations of the areas we hiked through in excellent English. The views of the Himalayas at sunrise were amazing, and it was fascinating to walk through local villages, see the valleys and explore the Hindu temple at changu Narayan at the end. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get a glimpse of the Himalayas, rural life and Nepali culture.
