Overview

The first stop will be Itsukushima Shrine at Miyajima Island, which is famous for the historic site of Shinto. This shrine is known as one of the most scenic spots in Japan. You will definitely enjoy the beautiful red shrine as if it were floating in the middle of the sea. We will also visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, which tells us how miserable the destructive effects of nuclear warfare are and how important peace is. We will also visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. ※If Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is closed, we will take you to visit Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims instead.

  • Atomic Bomb Dome

    When Japan joined the UNESCO World Heritage Convention in 1992, people including a-bombed survivors began to raise their voice in support of making the A-bomb Dome a World Heritage Site. A national campaign to collect signatures conducted by the citizens of Hiroshima was a success, and it was designated as a national historical site in June 1995 and registered on the list of World Heritage Sites in 1996 as a symbol calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons and for world peace.

  • Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

    ※If Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is closed, we will take you to visit Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims instead. On August 6, 1949, with enactment of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial City Construction Law, it was decided that the entire Nakajima District would be devoted to "peace memorial facilities," and that was the beginning of what is now Peace Memorial Park. The park covers approximately 122,100 square meters. It was designed by Kenzo Tange, a professor at Tokyo University, and three others, whose proposal was selected through a design competition that drew 145 proposals. At the south edge of the park is a line of three buildings: the East Building and the Main Building of the Peace Memorial Museum, and the International Conference Center Hiroshima.

  • Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

    Peace Memorial Museum. Consisting of two buildings, the museum surveys the history of Hiroshima and the advent of the nuclear bomb. Its main focus though is on the events of August 6: the dropping of the bomb and its outcome in human suffering. The personal details displayed are quite upsetting and serve to remind that we should not take peace for granted. ※If Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is closed, we will take you to visit Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims instead.

  • Itsukushima Shrine Torii

    The shrine is located in a small inlet, while the torii gate is set out in the Seto Inland Sea. Paths lead around the inlet, and visitors enjoy walking along them while looking out onto the sea. After sunset, the shrine and the torii gate are illuminated daily until 23:00, providing a perfect backdrop for ryokan guests to enjoy an evening walk in yukata and geta sandals. It is not possible to enter the shrine after sunset though. 1 hour is lunch time . The mid-movement time is about 30 minutes.

Humbling Experience

A Deeply Moving and Educational Experience in Hiroshima. The tour left a profound impact. What made this tour truly exceptional was our guide, who shared the personal, first-hand story of her grandparents’ experience during the atomic bombing of the city. Hearing such a deeply personal account brought a human dimension to the history that no textbook ever could. She spoke with grace, emotion, and authenticity, recounting how her grandparents survived the bombing and how it affected their lives and the generations that followed. Her storytelling was not only respectful and sincere but also incredibly powerful—it helped connect the historical facts with the emotional reality of those who lived through it. Walking through the Peace Memorial Park and Museum with her insights gave each stop greater meaning. She answered our questions with patience and honesty, never shying away from the painful truths, but always emphasising the importance of peace and remembrance. We left the tour not only more informed but also deeply moved. It was a humbling experience that we will never forget. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hiroshima who wants to gain a deeper understanding of its history through the lens of personal memory and resilience.

Toe and his assistant Yuki were amazing and so helpful. Their English was great and Toe shared knowledge and personal anecdotes abt the areas visited. Very happy with the experience. All the spots visited were exactly what we wanted to see and expected. Lunch place was cute and delish!

A lovely, interesting and moving day

A fantastic tour, out guide was To, and it was his first day and he did a superb job. I can't remember his assistant's name but she was excellent too. The tour was professional and got to see the Peace museum which was moving and powerful and were then taken to Miyajima island which was lovely. Also got to try okonomiyaki which is a must. Want to see more of the city so will definitely be back
