Overview

This tour is given by a food and history enthusiast local tour guide of Istanbul. Restaurants where we eat are all old restaurants which are preferred by locals mostly (not touristic) and serve very delicious centuries old recipes.You will have a chance to discover Istanbul’s European and Asian sides while admiring mind blowing tastes of local and street foods.Amount of food and number of options will definitely be more than enough and tour will meet your expectations!You will be in good hands! You will meet your tour guide at meeting point in the morning and start your tasting.Please be sure to come hungry. You will have a day of feasting ahead of you.You will have a chance to see most famous two food markets in Istanbul where you can see traditional commercial food life of Istanbulites.You be on two different continents in one day and cross the narrowest natural channel of the world.

Meeting points

This is very well known and a big hotel in Sirkeci district and 200 meters aways from Spice market.If you want to use public transport to get there you should use T1 and drop atoff sirkeci station.

The tour finishes at Karaköy district after tasting the best baklava shop of the city.District is very popular with its cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy the rest of the day.

Itinerary

  • Misir Carsisi (Spice Market)

    This is the second oldest covered bazaar in ıstanbul and mainly for food.There we will see variety of spices and taste best Turkish delights of the city.

  • Bosphorus Strait

    As the tour is offering tastes of two continents we should take a public ferry(transportation fees are included tour) we cross the narrowest channel of the world on the way to Asian side of İstanbul.

    25 minutes

  • Kadikoy Iskelesi (Pass By)

    This where we get off the boat after arriving Kadıköy where we will see another food market of istanbul and eat best local restaurants of city.

  • Karakoy

    This we we come back after Kadıköy stop and go to the best baklava shop in istanbul and end the tour.

Amazing - definitely recommend

We so enjoyed our exceptional day and food tour with Ozzie in July 2024 - in fact it was the highlight of our 3 week trip to Greece and Turkey. The food was absolutely awesome, sampled at 6 local gems, frequented by the locals, and dotted around Istanbul. We caught ferries, trams ,walked a great deal and touched on 2 continents ( Asia and Europe). We were hugely impressed with Ozzie’s knowledge on Turkiye and his command of the English language. We cannot recommend Ozzie enough - he is an absolute must on your travels of Istanbul. Thank you Ozzie!!!

So many great tastes and sites from the Bosphorus

While the large quantity of very good food wa great our guide, Kube, was the star. We had so much fun and laughed a lot. Have coffee for breakfast as you will be eating the remainder of the day. A little shopping here and there, but this experience is for your taste buds. It was also nice to spend time and eat on the Asia side of Istanbul via the ferry with great pics of Old City from the Bosphorus. Highly recommend this tour

Highlight of our whirlwind weekend in Istanbul

I can’t praise “Oz” highly enough. Not only did we enjoy some amazing Turkish dishes we also got to hear stories about Oz’s experiences growing up in Istanbul and how the foods we were eating fit into the lives of everyday Turks. Oz was so experienced that he was able to get us to try new dishes and provide us with experiences we never would have had on our own! We only had the weekend in Istanbul and had a mediocre private tour of the big Mosques and Topkapi the day before. This tour more than made up for our so-so tour the day before. Oz even helped us to see a few more sites on our own!

Ondie was a fantastic guide. He provided an authentic introductory to the culinary delights of Istanbul, both European and Asian side. He managed to incorporate plenty of information around the modern day and historical Turkish people lifestyles. Highly Recommend! Well worth the time and money.
