Great Solar Boat Tour

Despite the cool weather, we had a great tour of the river. The host and hostess were very accommodating and answered all of our questions about the area. Highly recommended!!

Serene, peaceful and educational experience

The guides/captains were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local culture. The two wines we tasted were delicious. The solar boat added to the experience because it was silent so you could enjoy the serenity of the beautiful surroundings as you glide up and down the Douro River. The lack of engine noise and gas fumes enhanced both the wine and overall experience. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a peaceful experience in a truly unique area. Five stars!

Must do the boat tour..

It was wonderful going on a solar boat being so quiet and without any exhaust. The day we had was beautiful and the scenery was breathtaking! When searching for the boat location it is off to the side not with the other boats in the front. Use Mapquest to help with the exact location. It would be nice if there was more information about the area provided during the tour.

One of My Favorite Activities on My Portugal Trip

Excellent tour! The scenery was fantastic and our guides were friendly and informative. It's a small boat and all of us got to talking, so it also made for some other great recommendations. Our cruise was at noon and we did find parking right by the river, but you might want to get there early if you're driving to find a place to park. Also, there are limited options for eating in that area. But loved the tour; one of my favorite parts of my 2-week trip in Portugal.

Wonderful hour experiencing the Douro River and wines

We so enjoyed our hour Douro River solar boat cruise. It was very nice to be able to listen to our guides’ information on the river and the wines being served without engine noise getting in the way. No exhaust fumes either. The local wines were tasty and enjoyable. We valued having options of sitting in either the sun or shade under the cover. All and all in was a great way to experience the Douro Valley.
