Daily Scenic Cruises – Maori Rock Carvings
Please note we are changing our afternoon departure time from 1.30pm to 1.00pm from 1st November 2024.
Our Daily Scenic Cruises depart from Berth #4 at the Taupo Boat Harbour on Cruise Cat. You’ll love cruising in comfort and style with fabulous views from both the top and bottom decks. Cruise Cat is fully enclosed with large outdoor decks to enjoy close up views of the Maori Rock Carvings. Children are welcome, and we have colouring-in sheets and wheel certificates available for them. Cruise Cat is also wheelchair and push chair/stroller accessible.
An informative commentary is given on the volcanic history and Maori mythology surrounding Lake Taupo, and you’ll enjoy a complimentary hot homemade muffin and tea/coffee as you take in the fabulous views of secluded bays and the spectacular snow capped mountain peaks of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park.

The team at Chris Jolly Outdoors lead a great day out on the water of Lake Taupo to see the Māori Rock Carvings. Our hosts were well informed about the region and made sure all sides of the boat were able to get the shots they wanted of this magnificent setting. We took the 10:30am cruise which meant we were lucky enough to have freshly baked blueberry muffins! A lovely little treat to top off a great morning on the water

Very friendly crew and lovely boat. Very informative live commentary. Beautiful scenery and very interesting carving. Free and unlimited tea, coffee, hot chocolate and water and complimentary blueberry muffins on the return journey! Fabulous trip

Fun way to get on the lake and learn some
History about the area. Staff was friendly, and funny. Enjoyed my time. Book ahead and arrive early, they leave on time!
I was surprised to learn that the carvings are recent vs a historical find, very cool to see nonetheless.
