Overview

From John Wayne to JFK and from Julia Roberts to Queen Victoria people have fallen in love wearing a Claddagh ring. Over the years it has become a symbol of Irish identity recognised all around the world. It speaks of eternal life, but can also have a darker side too. The Claddagh tour is unique in offering an in-depth exploration of the tales and traditions surrounding the Claddagh ring and relates it to the village from which it sprang. The relaxed pace walk takes in several of Galway's neighbourhood and includes a stop at a great cafe on the way. The tour is also unique in offering a ring included in the price of the tour (terms and conditions apply). Highly recommend this lovely tour!

I booked the tour with a friend over from the States as I’d never really done a walking tour of Galway city. Neil the tour guide was excellent: weaving in history of Galway City and The Claddagh as well as the people and of course the famous jewellry. The highlight was definitely the walk around The Claddagh (a part of Galway we hadn’t seen before) and learning about the history. We got to choose our own rings from the shop and enjoyed speaking with the staff there as well. Thanks Neil, for a wonderful day! We learned things we never knew and had a great time!
