    It was erected with materials of the time, such as brick and rock, and its geographical location (San Lázaro hill) was due to a military strategy, 7 due to the excellent elevation of the land (forty meters above sea level) .8 Thanks to this considerable height, any movement of the enemy could be seen and, consequently, the reaction time was maximized before any invasion attempt.

We really enjoyed this tour! Our guide, Rafael Rivero, was super nice and knowledgeable. La Popa was beautiful and it was cool seeing the Fort.

Had a wonderful time with just a small group of 3 people! The views of Cartegena from the castle and convert were stunning! Had a wonderful guide and the minivan was modern and well air conditioned.
