Overview

This two hour walking tour in the Mehrauli Archaeological Park area is great for history buffs looking to learn about Delhi’s history from the 11th century up to the British period. Mehrauli originally was the capital city of many rulers. This archaeological park covers an area of about 200 acres and is one of the oldest places in Delhi. NOTE: (Expect More People on Ground / Monuments / Public Places During the Tour). You will have Private tour Guide during the Sightseeing Tour. Itinerary

  • Mehrauli Archaeological Park

    You will be picked up from your hotel in New Delhi in an air conditioned vehicle and driven to Mehrauli Archeological Park. We start our walk at Quli Khan’s Tomb or Metcalfe House. The tomb looks like a typical tomb from the outside but it was converted into a retreat by Metcalfe (an Englishman who belonged to the court of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal ruler). Next, we see the Sultan Balban’s tomb, which has the distinction of having the first recorded arch built in India. It comprises of a Mosque and a Tomb constructed in 1528-1529. Our next stop is Dargah (saint’s mausoleum) of Bakhtiyar Kaki. this mausoleum is believed to resemble the inside of a jewellery box. The last stop will be a visit to the Rajon ki Baoli, which is a large historic step well that was created to provide water to the area. Adham Khan's tomb and an adjacent mosque are also a part of this site. After your tour ends, you will be brought back to your hotel in New Delhi.

It was such an amazing experience ! The terrain was challenging but it was worth it. The views of the canyon and falls were spectacular. Amazing guides Dave, Michael and JR took very good care of us, encouraging us for all the dips from the small to large cliffs to the rocky terrain. They even took photos and videos for us. We went to Rum Fish and the food was excellent, even though the menu was limited due to the Hurricane. Patrick our server was great along with the other staff. They thanked us numerous times for coming in.
