Overview

Delve into two rich Chinese cultural traditions – Taoism and tea-drinking; Explore Chengdu's poetic qualities and relaxed life style – on this 4-hour walking tour of central Chengdu. Visit the Qingyang Gong (Green Goat Palace) Taoist monastery, stroll along the Funan River and through Huanhuaxi Park, enjoy a special tea ceremony in an elegant tea house and finally sip a cup of green tea  to experience locals' relaxed life in People's Park. Taste the yummy local noodle for the lunch or dinner in the most popular noodle restaurant.

Itinerary

  • Huan Huaxi Park

    It is a lovely public park in the west of downtown, as the city moat flows by. In the past, it was a place where people produced embroidery. And now we can see the locals enjoying their laid-back life here, such as dancing, playing Taichi, jogging,etc

  • Qingyang Palace (Green Ram Temple)

    It is known as the Daoism Temple, it is a good place to learn about the Daoism here. We may see the beautiful paintings in the palaces which show the stories about the Daoism

  • Qintai Road

    A renovated street with the old style. Mostly this street is famous for selling jewelry. And we will have a simple but authentic local food here.

  • Kuanzhai Alley

    The most famous walking street in Chengdu, it is the landmark of Chengdu. You may see the courtyards in this street, and now this street has hundreds of souvenir shops, local snack restaurants, etc.

  • Chengdu Renmin Park

    The real park where you may experience the locals' life here, such as water calligraphy, poker, square dance, open tea house, etc.

Real authentic tea house experience

I had a fantastic morning out with Bruce. I would highly recommend this trip as a great way of seeing Chengdu. I definitely got more out of my visit from doing this tour. Bruce was very knowledgeable and we had a very chilled morning walking around the parks and sipping tea. We stopped off for noodles on the way to the Peoples Park which were very tasty and clearly a popular place with the locals. If your heading to Chengdu book this tour!!

Lovely way to see Chengdu!

This was a great way to see some of the main sights of Chengdu (Qingyang Gong, Cultural Park, People's Park, Wide and Narrow Alley), try lots of tea, and eat some great snacks (I'm still dreaming about that guo kui we ate). Greenie was our guide and had a level of enthusiasm I didn't think was possible. Definitely recommended :)

Bruce is truly a good guide

I brought friends from Houston, Texas to Chengdu during X'mas, Bruce and his team were recommended by my friend as a outstanding operator so we contact him and the booking procedure went smoothly. When arrived, we were truly impressed by not only his knowledge of this area but also his great understanding of Chinese culture. Moreover his way dealing his guests made both my friends and I really enjoyable. We then booked the Panda tour with him and it was a great fun.

Dream life in Chengdu

Bruce Chen is a Chengdu expert. I came to Chengdu one year ago and made a group of close friends here. Many of them have already lived in Chengdu for serveral decades, but as a tourism star city with delicious food and profound culture,even local friends don't know clearly about every interesting streets, teahouses, bars, hotels. Bruce Chen has all information we need, and planed the routes of tours for Chinese opera, tea culture, party, hiking, dinner...everything...really excellent!
