Overview

SALT | Surf As Life Therapy Surf School • We offer the best experience with surf lessons for all skill levels. We personalize our lessons to suit your specific needs and experience. Whether you're brand new or intermediate we promise to take your surfing to the next level. We focus on safety, surf skills, and mindset so that you can feel confident to practice on your own. We have a small surfer to instructor ratio for more quality and chances to catch more waves. Children 7 and under are booked as a private lesson with a personal instructor for safety reasons. We host our lessons during optimal tides and conditions to ensure you have the best possible outcome in both ability and experience.

Meeting points

Tamarindo Beach Parking Lot next to El Vaquero restaurant at the north end of the beach. (Subject to change based on ocean conditions, we will advise prior to the lesson)

Itinerary

Lessons are two hours in length, and start with a 20 minute pre-surf lesson in ocean safety, basic surf technique, etiquette, and most importantly: mindset. Then we head to the water to spend the remainder of the lesson riding waves and improving your skills. Whether you're brand new or intermediate we promise to take your surfing to the next level. We focus on how to learn to dance with the ocean and go with the flow, so you're not only learning to surf, you're learning valuable life lessons as well. We host our lessons during optimal tides and conditions at the best section of the beach to ensure you have the best possible outcome in both ability and experience.

Amazing. Spiritual. Life changing.

Elias is an amazing coach. This was my first time surfing, and it was a spiritual experience. I was up and riding a wave on the second try. My wife and two sons also were up riding waves almost immediately. We will be back again, and I plan to book multiple days with Elias. I not only stepped away feeling great riding waves but I also left with very meaningful insight on life and some life things I had been toiling with for years. Elias helped me connect my body to the waves and with that a lot of truth of what I wanted in life came into my head and heart. You might not get a spiritual vision on yours, but you will probably ride some waves! haha Pura Vida!

Elias and Patsy were outstanding instructors—patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. My family was very impressed with how they broke down the technique, provided amazing feedback, and prioritized safety above all else. Every family member was able to get up and ride waves immediately. They enjoyed it so much that they booked another lesson. I would highly recommend Elias and Patsy—they are fantastic!

I had an incredible surf lesson with Elias and Patsy! They took the time to teach us the techniques, gave valuable feedback, and made the entire experience enjoyable. We learned so much and, most importantly, had the best time! We enjoyed it so much that we booked another lesson with them during our trip! Elias and Patsy were amazing! Had so much fun our first day that we ended up booking a second session with them. Would highly recommend them if you're new to surfing. There's always another wave!

Elias was such a good surf instructor! Taught me my dad and brother how to surf. Broke it down into very small steps that helped us be successful compared to other surf schools :)
