Overview

Shanghai is a huge international metropolis with a long history. This private full-day city tour is designed for people who are interested in Shanghai’s past, present and future. It starts with a visit to the galleries in the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. Stroll through the lovely Yu Gardens and purchase lunch in the nearby Yu Bazaar, then take a walk along the Bund. Head to the Shanghai World Financial Center for an aerial perspective on the city, then see shops and Shikumen-style architecture along the atmospheric alleyways of Tianzifang, located in the old French Concession. Your tour includes entrance fees, and hotel pickup and drop-off. No shopping detours, factory stores, tea ceremony or shopping site restaurant to take up your valuable time at attraction sites, so you will have a pure sightseeing experience.

  • Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall

    Your tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. There, you can view many textual and graphic files and architectural models, which will help you get an overall understanding of the development of Shanghai.

  • Yu Garden (Yuyuan)

    Then, your guide will accompany you to the Yu Garden. Renowned as a shinning jewel among classical gardens in southern Yangtze River of China, it mainly features waterside pavilions, artistic stone carvings and wood engravings.

  • Yuyuan Bazar

    After leaving the garden, you will be guided to the nearby Yuyuan market to take a leisurely walk along the bustling pedestrian street. The pseudo-classic architectures lie along ancient streets to form a market selling souvenirs and snacks. You may have lunch here on your own choices.

  • The Bund

    Next, your trip will continue to the lively Bund Area to admire its essential part - the architectural complex of 52 exotic and glorious buildings. Take a leisure walk on the Bund and enjoy the spectacular view of the Huangpu River.

    After that, you will ascend the World Financial Center, a skyscraper takeing the unique shape of a beer bottle-opene, with a height of 492 meters (1,600 feet). Here you will have a fantastic bird's eye view of the whole city. Take photos from the spectacular perspective of the city.

    This Shanghai one day tour will conclude at Tianzifang, an old-style cultural block featuring distinctive Shikumen buildings with art studios, themed cafés and bars, and handicraft workshops. After that, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.

Great day in Shanghai

Our tour guide Martin was very knowledgable and helpful. He extended his stay till the end of the tour even though there was some confusion with the times by the agent. Martin did a great job explaining the sites we visited. A great day in Shanghai.

Ryen did an amazing job as our guide. He was able to Tell us a lot of interesting information about all the buildings and had also a lot of interesting facts about china. The Tour was very well planed and He gave us a lot of free time to Explore. We were able to take a lot of pictures and had an easy ride through the City. I would recomend this guide to everybody. The driver was also very reliable and we never had to wait more than five Minutes. We learned a lot about the Chinese history and a lot about the City of Shanghai.

Sunshine and culture on the bund

We had an amazing tour with our guide Ryan. The city was introduced to us with sunshine and lots of knowledge about Chinese culture and history that exceeded our expectations. Our guide catered to all our needs and we followed his recommendations for further exploration and were very happy with them. We will be coming back!

Excellent private day tour of the sights in Shanghai

Leslie at Travel China Guide helped me to plan out a private day tour for my family of 2 adults and 2 children in Shanghai. The process was very easy and I was left confident everything was planned well. Our tour guide Ryan did a fantastic job looking after us on the day. He not only took us to all of the places we asked to go, (including a secret viewing area of Yu Garden), but also a nice non-tourist restaurant for lunch to give us a more authentic local food experience. The food was excellent. He spent time explaining the history and meanings behind all of the places, which helped give us an overall understanding of what we were seeing. In China, everything has meaning. I would be very happy recommending families book a private Shanghai tour with TCG and hope you get Ryan as your guide.

I had a fantastic time exploring Shanghai with my guide Sophie Lee. She was friendly and enthusiastic and really brought the city to life.
