Discover one of the world’s most majestic cathedrals, a true masterpiece of Byzantine art in the heart of Venice. An official guide will provide you with a wealth of information regarding St Mark's Square and then accompany you on a detailed tour of the Golden Basilica, once the private chapel of the Doge of Venice, the only one of its kind in Italy, thanks to the sumptuous golden mosaics and impressive marble inlay flooring. During the tour you will be able to absorb the atmosphere whilst listening to your guide who will describe the biblical scenes represented throughout the building, together with history and particularities of this ancient Basilica. Visit Saint Mark's Basilica first floor museum and see the famous horses and admire Saint Mark's Square from the Basilica's terrace. The tour lasts one hour and concludes outside the Basilica in Saint Mark's Square.

  • On very few occasions the Basilica may be closed due to high water, the tour will not be cancelled but the explanation of the Basilica will take place from the outside

We had a MOST INFORMATIVE GUIDE. She was wonderful and helped us to understand many things about the Basilica that my wife and I as Protestants had not understood previously. I would highly recommend this tour. It was a treat not to have to wait in a long line to get into the Basilica as our tour guide took us right in through a special "Skip the line," entrance.

When we arrived at the meeting point, it seemed veery chaotic, with several groups all there together. Once it was time for the tour, it was all fine - each tour guide had their own channel on the audio guides and we sorted into groups quickly. When we entered the Basilica, I was glad we had opted for a guided tour - there is just so much to take in, and our guide, Lucia, was very knowledgeable about the history of the church and the artwork it contained. We saw both the Basilica itself and the Museum on the upper level. I would have liked to also see the Palo d'oro, but that wasn't an option we could book.
