    After being picked up from your accommodation, country roads are taking us to the abandoned facilities and what used to be base camp. We will spend an hour of exploring the old cargo plane, rolling across the airfield and exploring the 2km long tunnels entrances.

Željava - full exploration

Curious about Željava, we searched for information and found Plitvice here on Tripadvisor. Our guide was Antonio, a local who knows a lot about the history. Antonio guided us inside the whole base and explained to us about the base parts and history. You can visit the base by yourself, just walking around, but for sure you will be lost and also lose the history.

Interesting and alarming

What an incredible place to visit. Our guide ‘H’ was full of knowledge and the stories he told while we walked through this cavernous airplane bunker were both interesting and alarming. Hearing that it took 10 years to build makes it hard to believe what men will do and spend in the name of war.

I cannot reccomend this tour highly enough. It is an amazing place! I loved every minute of exploring the tunnels and runways, Antonio is an excellent guide, really knowledgeable about the place and happy to answer our many questions. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

One of the more interesting cool things we did in all of Europe. It is very off the beaten path, and definitely for the more adventuresome type. Our guide was so educated, and had so many stories to tell. I would advise that you wear warm clothing and good shoes as it is important to have good footing. So amazing!
