Callao was founded by the Spanish in 1537 but soon became the main port for Spanish trade in the Pacific. During the Viceroyalty all goods produced in Peru, Bolivia and Argentina were carried by mule back to Callao. to be sent to Panama and then transported to Spain.
Museo de Sitio Naval- Submarino Ex Bap Abtao
Learn about the interior of an American-made submarine acquired by the government of Peru in 1954. It was in operation until 2000, when they decided to decommission it and turn it into a museum.

We will visit the last fortress built in America by the Spanish crown "The Fortress of Real Felipe" built to protect the port of Callao from attacks by pirates and corsairs, this impressive military construction dates back to 1747 and inside it houses impressive pieces of the colonial and republican era.
