    The visit consists in an explanation of how it's made a Violin, and a Bow, the woods used, a lot of curiosity about Stradivari and the violin art, about making, varnishes and... prices of violins. You can touch and smell the wood, you can take some chips of wood... After you'll go upstairs into the school, in the classroom with students at work, with the smell of cutted wood, looking at the tools they use, and speaking with teachers and students, they come from all over the World, maybe you can meet someone from your country. The school is inside a beautyful historical palace that gives to all the visit the right landscape. After the visit, you'll understand better the "Violin World" and in the future you'll appreciate better this art.

Amazing introduction how to make a violin

A nice guy - Stephan - has introduced how to make an instrument from the wood, come from the forest, to the varnishing of the completed instrument. I will be a violin maker in my next life. (Or I was, in one of my previous ones :-)

Our tour was with the director of the school. He was friendly and knowledgable, and tailored the experience to our interest as a violin builder.

We found the Academy easily and we're greeted precisely on time by Nicholas ,the director and the lovely little workshop dog. Nicholas took great trouble to find out our knowledge levels and what we wanted to know. I am an amateur Luther with some years experience, my wife has limited knowledge of violin making but Nicholas made the visit interesting for us both. As it happens we were the only ones visiting at the time so it was a personal tour. He explained about wood selection in some detail and then gave a very clear and concise description of the processes involved in making a violin. We observed luthiers undertaking a variety of procedures including varnishing and also saw bow makers at work. Nicholas speaks excellent English and was incredibly helpful. Overall a 5 star trip and one we will both remember. Strongly recommended!! I now want to enroll on a course at the academy but sadly this isn't feasible!☹️

Incredible exploration of the violin making process

This was an incredible experience for my family which includes two children (ages 8 & 10) who have played violin for a couple of years. The tour of the school, ability to see in-depth the violin making process and information provided was beyond expectations and one of the highlights of our Italy visit.

This was the most interesting tour in Cremona. We learned so much about all what is needed to hand make a violin/viola in the Stradivarius style- using the same wood, glue, varnish etc
