Overview

From Bilbao we will head towards the province of Gipuzkoa, passing through towns such as Eibar, Elgoibar and Azkoitia. We will reach the sanctuary of Loyola, where we will visit the birthplace of Ignatius of Loyola, the most famous figure in the area. We will continue our journey along the coast of Zumaia, arriving at the fishing village of Getaria, where we will visit its historic center. We will continue through Zarauz and finally arrive in San Sebastian where you will have free time to have lunch and enjoy one of the best gastronomies in the world. After lunch we will visit Mount Igeldo from where we will be able to se the amazing view of La Concha Bay.

    Drive through Zarautz, home to the longest beach in the Basque Country and famous surfing location.

  • Donostia - San Sebastian

    Walking tour to discover the beautiful old town. Free time for lunch. San sebastian has the highest concentration of bars in the world in its city centre, perfect location to enjoy some pintxos. Panoramic tour up to Igeldo to see the unique views of the bay of La Concha.

Lovely sights!

Somehow ended up being two couples only with Stefan as guide. It was very good unlike the too large and rushed tours we have taken over the past two weeks. Stefan was very knowledgeable, funny, friendly and hospitable.

Certainly worth a visit

Covadonga is certainly worth a visit. The basilica there was built in honour of St Ignatious Loyola. The basilica itself is well worth a visit but so is the tiny chapel in the rock along with other buildings. There is a large car park too. You can spend several hours there, there are toilets and a little Café. It is an impressively built place. We went on a fine day, it's high up in the Picos de Europe.

Great experience. Tour guide was very informative, friendly and punctual. Enjoyed all the stops. The view from on top of the mountain upon San Sebastián/playa concha was breathtaking.

First visit to Bilbao

Our guide was good and shared bilingual Spanish and English. We had a predominate Spanish speaking group , so there are still dynamics you must absorb in being the minority , but he did a good job of managing it. He even tried to get 4 English speaking people on the tour to sit in front of the bus to avoid having the microphone on for both translations, but people who had entered the bus anchored those seats and would not move when requested. Our point. Wing he managed the situation very well and a were made to be welcome . I would do this tour again . Might consider San Sebastián on a day other than Saturday as the locals had many of the restaurants covered. But we worked through that too.
