Overview

Have the opportunity to visit the only fresh water natural lake in the island of Crete, and relax by having a coffee break in a local taverna. Admire the beauty of nature by riding a pedalo and for the brave ones by swimming into the lake with the ducks and the turtles. Next is the olive oil factory and a detail tour and local products tasting. Finally the main destination the winery in the courtyard, with the botanical garden and experience first hand the production and the storage area of the wines, learn all the secrets of production and bottling. Then it's wine tasting time where you will have the chance to try 5 local wines (and lunch if you like).

Angie at Your Cretan Local was such a wonderful tour guide. We experienced a great day exploring Crete. I was travelling with my Mum who has walking constraints and Angie adapted our tour to cater to her mobility and our interests. I would not hesitate to recommend this experience, when in Crete get in touch with Angie!!!

Wonderful Way to Experience Crete!

Very relaxing, enjoyable way to see and experience parts of Crete with limited time available in port from cruise. Angie was a super host explaining all about the island and allowing us as much or little time as desired at each stop. Also had nice local snack Angie shared with us after each stop. Lake was nice with some local shopping around it. Also got to see and walk out to Chapel in the Sea which was very cool. Olive farm and production location was extremely nice, enjoyable and low key. This was all topped off by a great trip to a beautiful winery with tour and tasting. Highly recommend this excursion and all the better if Angie can be your tour guide!

Magical day with Our Cretan Local Tour Guide

I can’t recommend Angie the owner of Your Cretan Local highly enough! She is a local of course and really has a way of planning a perfect day for you! The day she took us to the Kanakis Olive Mill and Dourakis winery was the best day of our already fabulous trip on this magical island. Absolutely worth every penny, you won’t be disappointed.

We very much enjoyed our tour day with Angie. On the way to Lake Kournas and during the entire day, she gave a lot of information about Crete, the culture, the go-to sights, the people living here, the every day life, and what kind of challenges there are on Crete. The tour was a good mixture of activities (‘bicycling’ on the lake spotting a turtle), history learning and knowledge on olive oil production, spiced up with small treats and quiz questions. The visit to Dourakis Winery for tasting and late lunch in beautiful surroundings ended a perfect day for us.

Incredible local Chania experience with the amazing Aggeliki!

Aggeliki was the most fun and creative tour guides we have ever had. She showed us some incredible locations (Lake Kournas where we paddle boated and saw native sea turtles, a local olive oil factory where we saw exactly how olive oil is made in this region and did a tasting, and finished with a five-wine tasting and lunch at a gorgeous winery). She took the best photos of us, and would never let us try to take selfies on our own. Now, we will always remember the great time we had through the photos she took of us. Highly recommend!
