Behind it, the Teno Massif rises like an ancient guardian and La Palma stands out in the distance, like a dream.

  • Centro de Visitantes El Portillo

    Drawn by the stunning landscape, you arrive at the El Portillo Visitor Centre unaware of the wealth of natural knowledge that awaits you inside. As you delve deeper into the centre’s small museum, you’re captivated by the information panels and absorb fascinating facts about the origins of Mount Teide and the unique species that inhabit it. You even get a peek inside a volcanic tube! Never before have you been so intrigued by a natural environment. Suddenly, you’re eager to learn everything there is to know about this impressive volcano.

  • Teide National Park

    The Teide National Park is the highest area of ​​the island of Tenerife (in the Canary Islands) and of Spain. Declared on January 22, 1954 as a National Park, it is the largest and oldest of the national parks of the Canary Islands and the third oldest in Spain. In 2007 it was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, and since that year it is considered one of the 12 Treasures of Spain. In this area is the Teide volcano (in Guanche and originally, Echeyde or Echeide) which with its 3718 meters, is the highest peak in the Canary Islands, Spain and any land emerging from the Atlantic Ocean. It is also the third largest volcano in the world from its base on the ocean floor, only surpassed by Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa in Hawaii. The height of Teide also makes the island of Tenerife the tenth highest island in the world. Next to Teide is the second highest mountain in the Canarian Archipelago, the Pico Viejo with 3135 meters above sea level, both being the only Canary mountains that exceed 3000 meters in altitude. It is also the most visited national park in Europe and currently the ninth in the world.

A day on Tenerife

Great day in Tenerife

We had a great day in Tenerife with Diego. Originally we were going to go to the volcano, but we changed our mind and Diego gave us an excellent tour of the north coast of the island. We went up into the mountains and saw beautiful scenery and went into the town of La Laguna. Diego customized the tour to our requests, and the weather, and we had an excellent time. Be aware that the temperature fluctuates greatly, make sure you bring a jacket, even if it’s hot at the port. After we changed our plans, we found out that it was snowing and icy at the volcano and tours had to turn around! I would highly recommend this company, and Diego as your tour guide.

Belen gave us a great tour for Teide and the lovely small town. She shared her love for the island with us and told us about local life and about the procession that happens in Santa Cruz. It sounds amazing. She also shared great photos along the way to highlight what we were looking at so we can get better understanding. This is the best tour that we had for the whole cruise.

We were picked up close to the cruise ship. Very nice vehicle, clean, modern and spacious Van. We had as much time as we wanted at all the stops. Went through the mountains and saw great views. Stopped also at Tunte, Teror and the old town of Las Palmas. Had lunch at Teror and a traditional coffee in Tunte. Simon was a great guide, very informative and made everything easy.
