Overview

Immerse yourself in the wonderful Nayarit jungle and dare to climb Cerro del Mono. Get to know the nature and culture of the area and try its local products in the town of Higuera Blanca. Your adventure begins at the Sayulita Bus Station, where we will take a local bus to the town of Higuera Blanca (25 min) After a brief introduction we will begin the hike to Cerro del Mono. The total round trip is 8 km/5 miles. We will start on a path that connects to the jungle, from there we will continue up a long hill and the end we will climb some rocks to the hill. The difficulty intensity is medium - moderate. At the top of the hill you will have time to rest, admire the landscape and enjoy a small snack. We will descend along the same path and stop at a station where you will meet “Don Pedro” who will have a fresh coconut for you. Then we going to “La Casa de Mamá Toña” a pretty restaurant with a nice Mexican food. Finally we will take a private transport to Sayulita.

Itinerary

  • Monkey Mountain

    Your adventure begins at the Sayulita Bus Station, where we will take a local bus to the town of Higuera Blanca(25 min) After a brief introduction we will begin the hike to Cerro del Mono. Fantastic hike and experience with Jair at Monkey Mountain

Had a Great Day hiking up Monkey Mountain ! Jair looked after us very well and was very prepared. He was a really good guide — very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife I would highly recommend him. We got to see a Coatimundi at the top of the mountain and had a very nice local experience dining after the hike.

You can’t control the weather but you can turn it into an amazing experience. Jair is very knowledgeable of his region. He is giving you a tour you will remember. You are leaving with a lot of information about the flore, fauna, and traditions.. Sharing what his region has to offer is his main goal. He is truly genuine, kind and caring about your needs. Reaching the top of the mountain is something; whether it is sunny or cloudy. I went when it was cloudy but seriously the vibe at the top is something to experience! If you want a nice hike with a bit of climbing, the tour is for you!

My friends and I had an incredibly fun and memorable hiking experience with Jair. He is not only very knowledgeable about the native plants and animals, but is also a great conversationalist and fun to be around. Some of the many highlights were the stunning views of the ocean and land from the top, the delicious dinner from a local restaurant (they were even accommodating of my vegan diet!), learning about and seeing in person some of the native plants and animals, and all the jokes and laughter along the way. Can’t recommend it enough!
