This is an unique anthropologist experience You will have the opportunity to be part of the daily activities and duties of locals that live in one of the crowdest districts of Lima. Along the tour, you will meet the friendliest people of the different communities we will go through.     On this walking tour, you will have the opportunity to learn about the lifestyle of a large part of the population of Lima, which lives under a shared community system and in an environment of happiness. At Haku Tours we want you to see "the real Lima". You will go up the famous yellow stairs and go through narrow paths until you reach the tops of the hills, there you'll see the impressive views of the city. During the tour we will visit a local nursery and the families of this friendly community who will share their culture and traditions with you. You should expect a warm welcome and happy smiles (locals love visitors).

A Side of Lima One Should See!

This was a most interesting and humbling tour. JJ navigated us through the community with respect and kindness to all we met. The tour takes you out of the city and into the lives of those less fortunate. I loved meeting the woman who runs the community kitchen and is a real change agent for the neighborhood. Bring water and he prepared to climb some steps. This was one of the best tours I have ever taken. What a great idea from Haku Tours!

Gaby and Paola were great hosts very knowledgeable and very pleasant,the trip was very interesting and enjoyable, we weren’t rushed and had plenty of time to see the markets the soup kitchen and the surrounding area, I would highly recommend this trip.

I highly recommend this tour. Lima is a beautiful city but there is another side to the city where 3 + million kind, happy and generous people live. This is a chance to learn why they are there, how they live and what their culture and life philosophy are. Edwin is a wonderful guide. Born and raised in the neighborhood, he is highly intelligent and knowledgeable, speaks 5 languages and used to be an engineer before taking up his work with this NGO. He has a wealth of information.This isn’t just a tour. It’s a chance to help the NGO and see its work in action.

Excellent from start to finish!

I went on the Shanty Town tour and my guide was JJ. From start to finish the excursion could not have been better. The agents were very quick with responses to questions and the pick up was prompt and we had five people on the tour. JJ was informative and spoke excellent English. We had an opportunity to learn about the community and meet a few of its residents and had an impromptu soccer game with some of the local children which was fun for all. I would highly recommend this tour and JJ as your guide. I could not have been any happier.
