Overview

Take a wild ride through the California desert in a comfortable open-air Hummer. Beware, it is 20 to 30 degrees cooler in the higher elevations and we highly recommend wearing layered clothing. This tour journeys through fabled Joshua Tree National Park. You could now choose to leave from Palm Desert or at a discount come out to Yucca Valley at the Welcome Center where the open air Hummer begins. Those beginning in Palm Desert will ride in an air conditioned shuttle for comfort. The total tour length is about 5 hours if taking our shuttle. Experience the natural beauty of the area while learning about its ecosystem and history from a National Park–approved guide. We have taken over 100,000 happy guests on this tour and you will not be disappointed. For those beginning this tour in the Palm Desert or Palm Springs area, we offer a comfortable air conditioned shuttle that takes you to Joshua Tree where the open air H1 Hummer portion of this tour will begin from the Welcome Center.

  • Joshua Tree National Park

    Our shuttle van will take you to the city of Joshua Tree where we trade for our H-1 Military Hummer to complete your adventure. We climb to the top of a breathtaking overlook called Keys Point that will give you a stunning view of the valley below and a view that stretches all the way to Mexico.

  • Keys View

    Gawk at a view that stretches for hundreds of miles. From this high point in Joshua Tree you can see as far as the Salton Sea and all the way down to Mexico on a clear day. You might even be able to make out your hotel on this escarpment that borders the famous San Andreas Fault. Look below this ledge we will stop at and you will see the fault line itself which stretches for over 800 miles.

  • Barker Dam Trail

    We offer an optional mile walk on this view that meanders through jaw-dropping beauty that includes the monzo granite formations of Joshua Tree as well as forests of these ancient plants that survived the Ice Age. Your Hummer guide will escort you through this area and he is a certified Wilderness guide trained in the geology of this area as well as aware of its more recent Native American history.

  • Cap Rock Trail

    This offers you an additional half-mile optional walk that loops you around precarious rock formations that balance upon one another. This is one of the most photographed areas in the park and well worth a stop and visit. Do not forget your cameras!

Outstanding with Tom

Great tour. Tom was able to pick meaningful spots to see the park and avoid some crowds. He also had plenty of warm gear for the colder temperatures there compared to the valley. Highly recommended especially for first time at Joshua Tree. We left something behind at the end of the tour and Tom made an extra effort to insure we got it back.

This was a fabulous way to see Joshua Tree National Park! Tom was knowledgable, entertaining, and made the experience unique and memorable. We went on a short hike and saw the most beautiful sunset. I highly recommend this adventure!

Tom was a great tour guide! Super fun riding in the open air. The stops where we were able to get out and walk were easy hikes with beautiful views. Really love how our guide had a fun music playlist as we entered and left the park. Memorable experience and would highly recommend this type of tour for your first time at Joshua Tree.

Tom was a fantastic guide. Highly recommend a guided tour. Gives so much history and insight into what otherwise would just be trees and rocks. Recommended for 4 and up. A little walking, a little off road, and overall a lot of fun

Hummer is not a bummer!

Eddie was a phenomenal guide! He is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Eddie knows his stuff and appreciated the info about the park. The three stops were a good sample of the park. I took the morning tour, so it was cold. Loved the warm blankets provided in the hummer. The hummer was colder, than the van, but worth it! The view driving through the park, in the hummer, was remarkable. Eddie was out chauffeur, photographer, and host, offering water multiple times. He gently moved us along during the walking portions of the tour without feeling rushed. The website mentioned snacks, but we weren't offered any. Which was fine because people brought snacks or could purchase at the visitor center. I highly recommend the tour!
