Overview

This tour is very Scenic visiting areas of Inverness you won’t see on foot or public transport or driving. The Waterways Tour rides along the River Ness and The Caledonian Canal with many stops to learn about the area. A local guide who has lived in Inverness all their life will share history and local events with you. We use easy to ride cruiser bikes on a flat route just over 6 miles. This is adults only tour (teenagers and above).

Itinerary

  • Inverness Castle Experience (Pass By)

    Learn about the Castle viewed from our starting point.

  • Inverness Cathedral

    We stop outside the Cathedral and view the building learning about the history.

    3 minutes

  • River Ness

    We ride along the riverside seeing fishermen and various wildlife.

    30 minutes

  • Cavell Gardens

    Beautiful Garden at Inverness War Memorial.

    5 minutes

  • Ness Islands

    These are the top thing to do in Inverness we ride through both islands seeing the trees the river.

    10 minutes

  • Inverness Botanic Gardens

    We stop for a quick visit to these beautiful gardens a hidden gem. Toilet facilities are available.

    15 minutes

  • Caledonian Canal

    Ride along the World Famous Caledonian Canal.

    30 minutes

  • Merkinch Local Nature Reserve

    We ride through the reserve looking out for any interesting birds like Grey Heron, Kingfisher, Curlew Oyster Catcher and many more.

Really fun and interesting bike tour with Alison

We only really had one day in Inverness so we wanted to do a tour so we could learn a little bit more about the city. It was due to storm the day we planned the tour with lots of rain so we put our waterproofs on and hoped for three best (we got lucky in the end with just a bit of light rain). Really enjoyed the tour. Alison was so lovely and really knowledgeable about the city. Everyone knew who she was and lots of people stopped to chat which was nice. Was a fantastic couple of hours and we got to see so much more on the bikes. Would definitely recommend this.
