    The Complex of Hue Monuments is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in the city of Hue in central Vietnam. Hue was founded as the Vietnam capital city by Gia Long, the first king of the Nguyen Dynasty in 1802. It held this position for nine Nguyen dynasties until 1945. The massive complex features hundreds of monuments and ruins, such as the Forbidden Purple City, once the residence of the royal family and badly damaged during the Vietnam War, the Imperial City, royal tombs, flag tower, pagodas, temples, a library and museum

    Dong Ba Market is the oldest of its kind in Hue, with hundreds of stalls selling household items, handicrafts, clothing and fresh produce at affordable prices. Located on Tran Hung Dao Street, it occupies a large grey building along the northern bank of Perfume River. Look out for the large red signage that says ‘Cho Dong Ba’ (which means Dong Ba Market in Vietnamese). The market opens as early as 03:00 to cater to local marketgoers looking to purchase fresh seafood, fruit, and vegetables.

    Minh Mang Tomb is the most famous attraction in Hue. The Tomb was built in 1840 under the order of Minh Mang King, so Minh Mang Tomb is well-known as the most beautiful and majestic tomb of Nguyen Dynasty.

    Khai Dinh Tomb is one of the famous tombs in Hue. The Tomb was built in 1920 under the order of Khai Dinh - The King of Nguyen Dynasty. After his ascendancy to throne in 1916, Emperor Khai Dinh chose the slope of Chau Chu (Chau E) Mountain, which is 10km from Hue center, to construct his “home in the other world” – according to Oriental belief. It was started bulding in 1920 and completed 11 years later, by his successor – Emperor Bao Dai.

Exotic Excursion on the Perfume River

Traveling on a river cruise is a dream of a lifetime. Thanks to our fabulous guide, David, we were able to experience the Perfume River on a personal level. Observing Hue’s culture along the river gave us a glimpse of Vietnamese life. Relaxing, full of culture, and a special river ride made my tour to Hue!
