Itinerary

  • Thanh Toan Bridge

    Agreed Time: Our local guide will pick you up from your hotel in city center for Hue Half Day Cycling Tour. After short brief about tour and safety, we start our cycling tour with a short cycle through peaceful villages and countryside to see daily life of local people. Stop in some rice farm (depends on season), vegetable gardens, duck farm,... to learn how local people make for their living. Then we will arrive to a small villages of Thuy Thanh, that is home to Thanh Toan Local Market. Climb off your bike to explore the local market stalls (in the morning), we then pay a visit to the Thanh Toan Agricultural Museum to discover more about the role of agriculture in local society, and spend your time to enjoy the beautiful Thanh Toan covered bridge.

    We then climb back on our bike to continue our Hue Half Day Cycling Tour to: # Option 1 - Hue City and stop in Local Authentic Restaurant to have some delicious local specialties for Local Food Tasting before finishing our Hue Cycling Tour Half Day: - Cơm Hến (Hue Steamed Rice with Clam) - Hến Xào (Stir-fried Clam with Vermicelli) - Nem Lụi (Grilled Minced Pork in Skewers) - Chè Bắp Huế (Hue Sweet Soup of Corn) # Option 2 - To Dam Chuon Fishing Village, located in Tam Giang Lagoon System and try to do Fishing by NET and TRAP, then taste Local Seafood Meal in Stilted Houses in the Middle of Water.

    Continue our cycling to Dam Chuon Fishing Village located in Tam Giang Lagoon, about the 52km2 wide lagoon - a part of Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system (the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia). It attracts visitors by rustic fishing villages nearby and seafood lagoon, particular when the sun setting up and down. On our trip today, we will try traditional way of local fishing by NET and TRAP, then try local seafood lunch on the Stilted House in the middle of water before cycling back to Hue City.

Nice bike ride through the countryside

I had an excellent bike ride with Mr Hung. We visited several sites and had a very pleasant journey through the countryside. It was hot but we had plenty of water and fresh coconut juice to power us through. I learned a lot about the history of Vietnam and its agricultural roots. We also stopped for a nice lunch of local cuisine. Overall I’d highly recommend this tour and especially Mr Hung. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke good English.

Amazing bike tour around the Hue countryside

We had an outstanding trip including cultural and history lessons, a visit to a market and agricultural museum, a fishing demonstration, and a fantastic seafood lunch at an amazing restaurant built over the water in a lagoon near the coast. The biking was easy, on flat roads and paths, and mostly traffic free. The bikes are classic one speed models but well maintained and more than sufficient for the terrain. The highlight of the trip was Hung, our guide, who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, speaks outstanding English, and did a great job educating us about a wide range of topics spanning history, politics, agriculture, culture, and religion.

Excellent morning out of the city

Wonderful half day out to see the countryside of Hue. Access to a local bridge was blocked off due to building works, which actually made for a fascinating detour through some of the new residential estates outside the city. My partner is vegetarian, so Dang took us to an excellent local vegetarian restaurant. The ride is easygoing with plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos. We were lucky enough to come across a herd of water buffalo taking a swim.

Lovely experience

We had an amazing bicycle tour with our guide Mr. Hung today. We've learned more about Vietnamese life and culture in the past few hours then during the past 2 weeks in Vietnam. Mr. Hung his English was also very good, allowing for a qualitative conversation about the tour sightings. The bicycling itself was also enjoyable, it is amazing how fast you can get outside of the busy city in Hue and enjoy the sceneries of the country side. The bikes we got were basic, but well maintained, perfect for an easy ride. Helmets are also included.

Must do in Hue!

Our cycling excursion with Hung was one of the best experiences we have had in Vietnam. It was such a nice opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger towns and cities, and we felt that we were able to see how life is for many people living around Hue. Hung was a lovely guy who was very informative, and we enjoyed his explanations about farming and life in the area. To top it all off, the excursion ended with one of the tastiest meals we have tried in Vietnam so far! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who’s looking to experience something more personal and less touristy.
