Itinerary

  • Hue Imperial City (The Citadel)

    After picking up at your hotel, we go to Imperial city locates inside the citadel wall, where 13 kings of Nguyen dynasty was living, working and ruling the nation from 1802 - 1945. Imperial city also is a great place to understand not only the history, also special architect, culture of Hue, and people.

  • Thien Mu Pagoda

    After having lunch, keep going ahead, we come to Thien Mu, one of the most beautiful pagoda in Hue, situated on a hill, face to Perfume river. This buddhist pagoda also gives you interesting information which relates to the establishment of the Nguyen family and Nguyen dynasty in Hue from 1558 - 1945. And then taking a private boat to ride downstream on Perfume river back to city center.

  • Tomb of Khai Dinh

    Afterwards, you will go to Khai Dinh tomb which is one of the most special architecture and the most expensive among 7 tombs under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945). This complex started to be built in 1920 and took eleven years to complete, and it still unfinished till the Emperor Khai Dinh died of tuberculosis in 1925. His son, the last Emperor of Vietnam- Bao Dai, finally completed the tomb in 1931.

  • Tomb of Tu Duc

    Tu Duc tomb is a stunning tomb, built by Emperor Tu Duc in 1864 as a second palace initially, and as his final resting place after death. follow me to enjoy the beautiful garden, amazing architect, serene pond, impressive theater, where the emperor used to relax and compose poetry. It is a must-see attraction for anyone. Finally, we go back to hotel. Tour ends

Great tour of Hue with Matthew!

Absolutely marvellous tour. Stunning locations and Matthew’s rich passion towards the history of Hue Dynasty, is marvellous and so worth it. Felt like I was back in time in all the eras we talked about. Highly recommend it - you do not want to miss this if in Hue. I have such a deeper appreciation of this city. Thank you, Matthew.

Highly highly recommend this tour with Matthew. He was extremely knowledgeable and offered incredible insights into the various points of interest we hit on the tour. He clearly knows a ton and feels passionately about Hue. His English is very good and he is easily understood.

Best guide ever

Our guide My, picked us up promptly at our hotel with a very efficient and pleasant driver. As we headed off, she outlined what the day would be like, starting in the citadel and imperial city in the city of Hue itself. We spent a great deal of time there My provided extensive detail and answered all of our questions. My friend, and I are both extremely inquisitive and jump around from subject to subject and My was more than able to accommodate us. She had a great sense of history and a wonderful sense of humor. Over the course of the day, we went to a number of temples and mausoleums. the ones she chose were all different from each other but each one was spectacular and had lots of historical significance. We also found a casual lunch at a very friendly Roadside restaurant. I cannot recommend this guide highly enough for her intelligence, friendliness, and sense of humor, which made an eight hour day fly by. We will definitely use her again

The tour was very well organised and ran well throughout the day. Matthew was very passionate about his city and gave plenty of informative historical facts. He was very friendly and always ready to assist with photo opportunities. I would highly recommend this tour and Matthew.

Matthew was recommended to us by friends who had been on one of his tours previously. We opted for the full day tour and it was fantastic: Matthew was so friendly and informative and is very passionate about the history of Hue.
