Overview

Discover the Côte de Nuits vineyards and their heritage by tasting great Burgundy wines on this 4.5 hour guided tour. Take a stroll through the Côte de Nuits vineyards and visit the Château du Clos de Vougeot. Head through the ancient forests and picturesque countryside and discover the 18th century Burgundy canal. Departure times are available from 1.30pm to 6pm.

Itinerary

  • Authentica Tours

    Tasting of great Burgundy wines in a traditional cellar. With a selection of 5 to 7 wines including Premier Cru, discover the great Pinot Noirs and white wines from the estate. Take a stroll through the Côte de Nuits vineyards, wine making villages, medieval houses, churches, and castles. Visit the Château du Clos de Vougeot, on the trail of the Cistercians monks. Explore the wine-making facilities built between the 12th and 16th century: vat rooms, presses and the monk’s cellar. Head through the ancient forests and picturesque countryside of the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Discover the 18th century Burgundy canal in the heart of the Ouche Valley.

We have done many wine tours in Napa, so I was expecting a similar experience. But we were fascinated to learn about the history of winemaking in Burgundy, starting with the Romans, the monks, the French Revolution which has resulted in hundreds of small vineyards. Ann, our tour guide, also did a great job in explaining how wines are labeled - village, vineyard, cru - and we finished the day with a fantastic tasting.
