Overview

This is a unique tour in the city where you will get to know the less known and touristic side of Granada, the caves of San Miguel and Sacromonte. While we all know the caves where they do flamenco shows, less known is the area where the lifestyle has changed little in recent years: self-sustainable caves, without running water or electricity as we understand it, an alternative lifestyle in the middle of the city. We will talk about the process of excavation of the cave, how is the day to day life, the legal situation of these houses, the demands of the neighbors, the problems with the police... A very authentic way to know first hand this neighborhood so unknown, even for the locals of Granada. Wonderful views will accompany us at all times. It requires a moderate level of fitness, as there are many uphill areas, on dirt roads. A different tour, that will not leave you indifferent.

    Our adventure will begin in Plaza nueva, where we will start.

  • Barrio Del Albaicin

    To get to the area of the Sacromonte caves, we must first go through the Arab quarter, the Albaicin. Norrow streets full of history that you will understand with the help of your guide.

  • Sacromonte

    After the Albaicin we will have reached the area of the caves of San Miguel. Here we will know the history of this controversial area in Granada, its legal situation, the demands of its neighbors, all accompanied by spectacular views.

The best Sacromonte area and caves tour with Nacho!

Get your walking shoes ready, this was a fantastic private tour! Our guide, Nacho, was very pleasant and knowledgable. He even provided information of where to purchase baskets that we saw in the caves. This is the tour to take to gain knowledge about the Sacromonte area and caves.

Albaicin and Caves of Sacromonte with Pedro

Pedro, our guide, was outstanding. Before the tour started he took us through a little history of Spain and Granada. We then headed off towards the caves of Sacromonte. On the way he took us through the Albaicin neighbourhood and then up to the cave homes. He was very knowledgeable about the neighbourhoods, the homes and also about the people. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Pedro. A great guide and a lovely person.
