Itinerary

  • Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Red Rock Canyon is known for its interesting formations of red rocks and is a great place to see a plethora of desert wildlife, including wild mustang horses, the desert kit fox and big horn sheep. On this exciting bike tour, you have two choices to make: guided or self-guided tour and Gary Fisher hybrid bike or a Tarmac or Roubaix road bike (see Additional Info below for details on the bikes). Guided Option: Let your professional guide lead you on an awesome, one-way bike ride along a paved loop. This tour is great for the casual cyclist. The scenic loop winds through petrified sand dunes and runs along the base of the Keystone Cliffs. Start at the loop’s highest point and descend 2,500 feet (762 meters) through Red Rock Canyon and back to the tour center. Self-Guided Option: Intermediate and advanced riders may prefer the 23-mile (37-km) self-guided tour. This is a great way to see the canyon at your own pace and ride an additional 10 miles (17 km) on the Red Rock Scenic Highway. Important: Please advise of each riders height in the special requirements field at check out. There is the possibility of your booking not being confirmed without this information. There is a minimum of 2 passengers to operate this tour. If the minimum is not met and you would like to guarantee your departure a fee of $100 is required, paid directly to the local operator.

El mejor tour de las vegas, no todo es alcohol, fiesta y apuestas.

Published on Jun, 2024

The contact was very good at all times, they were attentive to any questions that existed. I reserved a bicycle that is not electric. In my air of grandeur, I thought it would be a good option. But it was not like that. The climbs were very long and tiring, so I stopped to rest on several occasions. The place is beautiful, I would go again a thousand times. When I turn around and see the company van that took us I felt great relief. And yes, not even an hour passed when I started to feel very very tired. She kindly gave me a Raid to make the climb easier. On the descent I enjoyed it too much, the bike is great, nothing is wrong with it, it handles super well, but you need to be in good physical condition. My Tour companions enjoyed the road more, their bike was hybrid and they didn't need to pedal as much. I ended up very tired. The guide was very friendly at all times, she is a great person and I am very grateful that she has been so patient with me. Waiting for my colleagues, we went to her physical store and they have countless bicycles, it is the best bicycle store I know. Moral: if you don't use a bike daily, rent the hybrid bike option. No tengo más fotos, porque la subida me costó mucho jaja.

Gorgeous ride with great service!

I partook in the self-guided road bike tour with the road bike option. For this option, the meet-up point was the North Valet at the Mirage where rideshare pick-ups are. There is a dedicated 'Tour Group / Bus' pick-up sign to the left of the rideshare area where the tour operator van was doing pick-ups. The tour operator waited for all biking / hiking participants to be accounted for and called someone who had gone to the wrong pick-up point. Once everyone was accounted for, the tour operator drove us to the canyon, roughly 30 minute drive. For the self-guided tour, I was dropped off in the parking lot of the Red Rock Canyon visitor center. The tour operator provided a cue sheet with a map for the scenic loop as well as instructions to return to Las Vegas Cyclery to drop the bike off. For a guided tour option, you would ultimately meet back with the tour operator within the park (assuming the large parking lot at the end of the scenic loop). They had several sizes of helmets to choose from. I was then given two large water bottles and option of snacks to choose from. The tour operator then went to bring the hiking crew to their desired trail heads. The road bike rental was in fantastic shape. The Las Vegas Cyclery / escape adventures group had reached out immediately after placing the booking for additional details regarding pedal set-up. They were able to configure the bike to have SPD pedals. The bike was provided with two water bottle cages, an air pump, and a pouch filled with a multi-tool and spare tube. The scenic loop is absolutely gorgeous! The road seems to be recently paved and is in great condition. The loop is one way and the traffic was quite reasonable. There is plenty of margin to allow cycling amongst those who were driving and not once did I feel unsafe. There are multiple trail heads and parking lots to stop in that offer some fantastic views! Some of these trailheads also have restrooms available. The first ~6.5 miles are uphill with roughly 1600 feet of elevation gain. There were plenty of spots to stop to take a rest and refresh before the next wave. The remaining ~7.5 miles of the scenic route were downhill. There were a few tight spots to be careful of when descending, but overall there was plenty of space and it was comfortable even with cars passing. The remaining 10 miles were to get the Las Vegas Cyclery to drop the bike off. The bulk of the ride for this was alongside the Red Rock Canyon highway where you then cross back with the entrance. This section had healthy margins on the side for dedicated cycling. The next portion of the trip was through a set of homes / townhouses. There was not a dedicated cycling lane / breakdown lane, but the road was two lanes and relatively low traffic (Friday morning) so it felt pretty safe. The last leg of the trip was on a dedicated bike path feeding into dedicated bike lanes in a relatively low traffic area for commercial spaces. The Las Vegas Cyclery staff was fantastic - they helped to bring the bike in and ensured that I had transportation to get back to the strip / hotel. Their shop was very clean and well maintained. They had restrooms and showers that could also be used to refresh before heading back. It was a phenomenal experience and I look forward to utilizing Las Vegas Cyclery in the future for bike rentals should I ever cross paths again with Las Vegas.

Christine was an amazing tour guide! Had unexpected bad weather on the day, she made sure we were safe at all times. She kept the experience a good one even in the bad conditions. It was a memorable wedding day for us, thank you Christine!

Bikes were in great condition- expertly tuned to our height. Great scenery! Transport bus was crowded but OK.

A great ride through a beautiful canyon

Published on Feb, 2024

I chose the self guided 25 mile route through Red Rock Canyon and back to the bike shop on a road bike. The equipment supplied was top notch and the instructions were clear. Theresa was very friendly and explained things on the way there. I had done part of this ride about 10 years ago so I knew it started with a long uphill ride, but I had conviently forgotten how long and uphill it was. But once you conquer that, it's clear sailing. Good opportunities to stop at lookouts and get pictures. Overall, a great activity to get out of Vegas, but not for inexperienced riders.
