  • Use of Microspikes for traction while on the glacier.
  • Pictures from your guide. Any photos we take will be made available to you free of charge.
  • Please be prepared to add a gratuity for your glacier guide if he or she provides great service.
  • We'll stop on our way to the glacier, where guests will be able to purchase lunch. There is a cooler onboard the van to keep food fresh while we're on the glacier.

Overview

The Matanuska Glacier is the largest and most magnificent glacier in Alaska with road access. We will drive you to within about 1/2 mile of the face of the glacier, where we'll start our hike. We'll be hiking on the glacier for two to two and a half hours, and walk about 2 to 3 miles. There is little elevation change, and the hike difficulty is rated as moderate. The glacier is about a two-hour drive from Anchorage. We will stop about half way there for a restroom break, where you will also have the opportunity to purchase coffee and whatever you'd like to have to eat while we're out. Bottled water is provided.

    Along the 2 hour drive to the Glacier, bear, moose, owls, eagles, foxes and porcupines are all possible to see. And along the way there are also many beautiful panoramic pictures to take.

Glacier tours are...

Glacier tours are absolutely stunning. You get to see massive ice formations, and the scenery is just breathtaking.

The tour was great! Ryan was very helpful and his Communication was awesome. They provided spikes and assisted with putting them on so no one slips on the ice. The hike could have been a little longer but overall very detailed and hands on from the guides.

Good fun day on the Glacier with Chris and Ryan! The ride with Ryan to and from was comfortable and efficient. Chris was excellent as a guide in the Glacier! Informative and fun!

Great way to see the Glacier up close! Ryan was super knowledgeable, patient, and lots of fun. The glacier is a sight to see! We made quick friends with the others in the group which made the ride to/from really fun.
