Itinerary

A unique experience for those who really enjoy savoring traditional food and especially getting involved in food preparation and learning techniques. The food is made in a wood-fired oven made of lava stones, similar to our ancestors and that gives an unmistakable flavor. Besides the food, the drink is always present and I give tips on the best wines and we talk above all about what characterizes us as islanders in the middle of this immense ocean. We speak English and Spanish and then the wine speaks for itself. Come prepared to get your hands dirty and make your delicious bread and get involved in food preparation You can ask for the opening date in the calendar

Fun family and food.

Wonderful evening, start to finish. Hugo and Rosa Silva were gracious, welcoming, informative, and fun to be with. Their children were respectful and entertaining. We got to their home a little bit early, so Rosa had us help prepare the bread which was then baked in their wood fired oven. The other guests arrived over the next 45 minutes. We all talked and had a good time. After a delicious dinner, their 10 year old son pulled out his French horn and played us some Beatles songs. Then they added dessert. Altogether, there were 9 guests, and I believe everyone of them loved the evening. After almost 4 weeks in Portugal, we put that evening with Hugo, Rosa and family as one of the top highlights.

Authentic Terceira Experience!

The food was delicious, and the family was so friendly and warm. Our hearts were filled with joy from this wonderful experience. We highly recommend this experience if you are looking for an authentic meal of Terceira island. The bonus was music performed by talented young Augusto and after dinner beverages and dessert!

Fantastic evening with new found friends

Hugo and his family did a wonderful job welcoming our family into their beautiful home. In addition to our family, that evening there was another family from the US and a Italian-French couple for our dinner experience. Parking is easy in the neighborhood but if you don't have a rental car and are staying in Angra, you'll probably want to take a taxi as the home is located Terra Chá which is about 10 minutes/5 kilometers from Angra. Every part of dinner was home cooked, traditional and absolutely delicious! They have a very nice outdoor space to chat in while waiting for dinner, along with a kitchen and dining area right in their lovely backyard. We may have entered as strangers but by the end of the night, we felt like friends and that was in no small part to our friendly hosts and their kids! Thank you for the warm welcome and showing us the true hospitality of Terceira!

This was our first time in the Azores and my husband and I went to Hugo and Rosa’s with another couple. We truly enjoyed our night with this sweet family in their welcoming home. Not only was it the best meal we had visiting Terceira, it was so interesting to learn more about the culture of the island firsthand. They were gracious hosts and we also loved meeting Laura and Augustus! A truly special night!
