Overview

Skip-The-Line with tickets included in the company of an experienced Expert Licensed Professional guide. Step back over 3000 years to the recognized center of the Ancient World as you tread the path of previous kings to the Temple of Apollo, learn about the Prophecies of the famous Oracle, the Ancient Olympic games held there, the treasuries of cities housed on the site and many other wonders such as the giant Naxos Sphynx. Amazingly, many of these structures still exist to provide an amazing connection to the History & Mythology which your guide will bring to life as well as the many unique masterpieces of Sculpture & Art in the nearby Museum. This tour is suitable for all ages & levels of Archaeological interest & your guide will naturally adapt to the level of detail that you are interested in, as any particular aspects of particular interest within your group from Ancient Mythology, the Ceremonies of the Oracle, construction or any other aspect of its History.

Our guide will be waiting at the Ticket booth at the Museum. She will have a sign with your name. If arriving by car, please be advised that there is large parking area along the main road directly adjacent to the site. This may be full during busy periods so we advise you arrive with plenty of time

Itinerary

    MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting for you at the Main entrance of the Museum & she will have a sign with your name written. EXPLORING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE. Inset on wide terraces along the hillside we are fortunate that the landslides of previous centuries preserved much of the ancient remains for us, including the 4th century BC temple of Apollo from where the Oracle spoke her prophecies along with the Castilian spring of Mythology, theatre, treasury buildings, temples of Athena and Gymnasium where athletes gathered before the Pythian games to bathe in the sacred waters. During your visit to Delphi, you can still see the physical structures associated with this incredibly long history a your expert guide brings their History to life before you.

  • Delphi Archaeological Museum

    TOURING THE MUSEUM. A beautiful addition to the site is the modern museum which displays finds stretching back in time to at least 1500 BC, including many of the sculptures & other unique pieces that adorned the temples & streets of the site at its peak around the 4th century BC. Outstanding pieces include the Naxos Sphynx, the twin Kouroi, and the famous Bronze Charioteer among others.

Highlight of our trip!

The tour was excellent. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the site, the history and how various aspects of faith and history have intertwined over the centuries. I have read a great deal and watched documentaries about Delphi but nothing can really explain the site and sheer awe of it all until you have been there. Even if you are being dragged along as part of a group, the views of the mountains and valley are totally worth it! It does involve walking, stairs and a trek up the hill. We did not find it strenuous but you should check with the site if you need accommodations. The inside part of the tour is accessible but I'm not sure about outside.

My family recently enjoyed our excellent, highly informative Delphi archaeological site and museum tour with Georgia! She genuinely cared that we understood the key historical points and explained things in a way that engaged all of us, including our 12 and 14 year olds. I reached out to this tour operator under fairly short notice, and they were very responsive, helpful and professional throughout the process in arranging this tour. Communication was excellent - this is clearly a highly professional operation with seasoned tour guides.

It was brutally hot and part of the archeological site was closed but these were not the fault of our guide who was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot and had a great tour.

Wealth of knowledge and insight. Georgia explained the history of Delphi inside the museum very well with an easy personality. Kept our attention well. Then we walked ruins. Very insightful. Would highly recommend Georgia.
