Overview

This excursion travels to Haleakalā’s 10,000-foot summit for an unforgettable sunrise. In addition to witnessing one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sunrises, guests are treated to a compelling and informative guided vehicle tour of Haleakalā National Park. Our NAI Certified Interpretive Guides share insightful information about Haleakalā’s fascinating geology, ecology, and enlightening tales about Maui’s local culture and history. After an enchanting morning at Haleakalā National Park, this tour visits the historic towns of Makawao and Paʻia.

Itinerary

  • Haleakala National Park

    Some call Haleakalā the Eighth Wonder of the World. Nowhere else can you climb from sea level to 10,023′ in less than an hour. At the summit, the 3,000′ deep crater you peer down into is 7 miles long, 2 miles wide, and 21 miles in circumference. Encounter the elegant Silversword plant, found nowhere else in the world as well as Hawaii’s state bird, the Nene goose. Haleakalā is home to hundreds of rare and endangered species of plants and animals. We are a licensed concessioner of Haleakala National Park and have direct access.

    Today Pa’ia is a popular surf destination, however, Pa’ia’s history is as intriguing as it is fascinating. Learn about how the Sugar Plantations shaped this town and the culture of the island, and how this small north shore town was once a gathering place for entertainment and fun.

    Maui’s rich farming and ranching history is still evident by the vast pastures that line the side of the mountain. Kula’s cool weather and rich volcanic soil make the area an ideal spot for a number of Lavender, Protea, and Macadamia Nut farms.

    The Hawaiian Cowboys or Paniolos have roots set deep in the town of Makawao. This small town still has hitching rails at storefronts just as the locals once used to tie up their horses.

My family did the sunrise Haleakala tour and it was one of the best experience ever. Booking the tour was easy and they picked us up at the hotel on time.Our guide Mike was fantastic. He was a wealth of knowledge about the history of Hawaii and the Hawaiian eco system. The view from the top of the volcano was unlike any sunrise we have ever seen. The colors of the sunrise was so vibrant and being above the clouds was unreal. The stars felt so close as if you could touch them. This tour is a must if you come to Maui.

Awesomeness combined with knowledgeable guides. Totally recommend!

I recently took part in the Haleakala sunset tour with my mom and aunt. Mike was our amazing tour guide. He was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed his stories and humor. The view from the top was beautiful and breathtaking. My favorite part was the star gazing and that we were able to see the Milky Way. Mike surprised us with a hot treat which came in handy to warm us up. I would definitely recommend this tour.

One of the most amazing experiences on Maui

A must do in Maui despite early wake-up time. Stunning views of the sunrise and the flora at 10,000 ft. The guides are phenomenal. Next time I will likely do the bike tour as well. Dress warm (temp is in the high 30s to low 40s in the morning in April).
