And to make it as easy as possible, this ticket includes instant access, meaning you don't have to go to a separate kiosk to redeem your ticket — just present it at the California Academy of Science's entrance and be on your way. 2 New Exhibits in Spring 2025 Dinos Days: Enjoy special themed programming and walk among prehistoric giants as 13 life-size animatronic dinosaurs take over both of the Academy’s outdoor gardens. Opens March 1. Unseen Oceans: Explore the mysterious wonders of the deep sea and discover the latest ocean science with glowing supersized models, an interactive submersible, stunning displays, and more.     Home to nearly 60,000 live animals, representing more than 1,000 unique species, you can experience one of the most biologically diverse and interactive aquariums. Plunge into the world's deepest living indoor coral reef, encounter over a dozen species in the Venom exhibit, and descend into the little-known “Twilight Zone” to learn about the diverse marine life of the pitch-black sea.

    The 75-foot planetarium dome screen will immerse you inside cutting-edge visualizations and hyper-realistic virtual environments. Planetarium show passes are included in the price of admission and can be reserved at the planetarium pass pick-up desk across from the planetarium entrance.

Academy of Science is a must see!

You’re in for an exciting day when you the Academy of Science in San Francisco no matter your age! Hubby and I enjoyed all the exhibits as much as any of the different aged school students visiting. From the planetarium to the aquarium to the rain forest and more, it was phenomenal! A must see!

Lovely! Informative! Friendly. Easy to access. A happy birthday gift to me. I liked all the renovations and keeping the eye on the real core of life experiences. I also loved the Butterfly check at the end.

Awesom+e science museum

One great thing about the California Academy is that you can actually be *in* the exhibits. You walk through the rainforest, with butterflies flying around you. You can be surrounded by the fish in the aquarium. We stepped outdoors to see the baby reindeer about 6 months old. We were intrigued by the albino alligator. Lots of California natural history and hands-on exhibits. The big downside is that the tickets are very expensive. We splurged and enjoyed our time there and hope to go back.

My Favorite Science Museum including the Design of the Museum Itself

This is a wonderful museum, with a very well thought out and fascinating design. We loved all of the natural light that came into the museum, and the garden on the roof! We spent at least an hour inside the ecosphere and loved the path that wound upwards and all of the butterflies and birds! We also greatly enjoyed the vast aquarium on the lower floors. Claude the albino alligator was quite a sight and it was fun to hear all about him from the museum speaker. We also loved the gem and precious stone collection, and the photographic exhibit.
