Overview

As one of the largest antebellum houses in Tennessee, Belmont Mansion is a must-see for anyone interested in Nashville history, the Civil War, architecture, art and decorative arts, and is worth booking your admission in advance to guarantee entry. General Admission tickets purchased through Viator and Trip Advisor provide a tour that begins with an introduction from a trained interpreter then allows you to explore the mansion at your own pace.     Make your way to Belmont Mansion, located just 3 miles from downtown Nashville. Walk through the meticulously restored rooms of this Italian Villa style home, complete with an impressive display of original furnishings, artwork and statuary. Belmont Mansion is a must-see for anyone interested in women's history, Tennessee history, the Civil War, architecture, art and decorative arts. Ring the doorbell and our historical interpreters will welcome you inside to view this elaborately decorated Victorian home. Then, take an optional self-guided tour of the meticulously maintained rose garden and grounds now part of the Belmont University campus, one of the 10 most beautiful urban campuses in the country starting from the front steps of Belmont Mansion.  At the end of your visit, make your way back to downtown Nashville and enjoy the city.

Beautiful Home

I upgraded to the guided tour for an additional $4. It was well worth it, if you really want the history of the time and house the mansion and family played a role. The home is well preserved and Tom, my guide, was very knowledgeable.

Belmont at Christmas

We really enjoyed learning about the history of the family that lived there and some of the events that happened. It’s wonderful to know that they have been able to find and restore many of the original pieces of furniture that are from the house.

Beautiful grounds & a wonderful home full of splendor & history! The staff is very friendly and the tour guide was great! You do not feel rushed with an all day ticket & the cutest gift shop at Christmas time that is very reasonable!!

Beautiful! The 15min tour guide introduction of the history behind the mansion was a good add-on. The mansion is absolutely stunning!

If you like history, family stories, and old houses, this is a must-see. This beautiful antebellum home was built with the money of one of the wealthiest slave traders in the country. In addition to information about the family through the generations, the organization has done a credible job of gathering information about the enslaved people who served the owners. The guides provide in-depth descriptions of the history and the design and furnishing of this showpiece home. Amazingly, much of the furniture and other furnishings are original to the home. This is due to excellent household records and efforts to track down items that were sold off over time. Interior design groupies will love this tour! Highly recommend. The Belmont Mansion is located on the campus of the Belmont University. It’s not easy to find (GPS was a total fail) and parking difficult. Allow extra time to find it.
