Overview

Join us on a wonderful afternoon wine tour starting from Tours or Amboise, and discover the local wines of the Touraine region. As a small group of up to 8 people, you'll visit two wine estates in the Touraine "appellation" area with your local expert guide. He will take you through the vineyards and the wineries, providing insights into the geography, terroir, and the art of winemaking. You'll have the chance to taste a large variety of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines from the region, made with many grape varieties (Chenin, Malbec, Cabernet, Gamay, Grolleau,…), accompanied by cheeses and charcuterie specialties from the region (rillettes, rillons, …) Throughout the transfers between locations, you'll have the opportunity to admire the beautiful Loire landscapes through the windows of our comfortable chauffeured Mercedes minivan.

Our English- and French-speaking guide and driver, Alycea, was a delight. We did extensive tastings at two very different, but equally charming wineries: one in the Touraine Chenonceaux area (based in a small chateau), and one in Vouvray (based in a repurposed limestone mine). Alycea is an experienced winemaker, and as such, she not only helped us understand the subtle differences among the wines we tasted, but also gave us many insights into the agricultural, scientific, and business aspects of winemaking. Highly recommended!
