Itinerary

Conquer Madeira’s highest peak, Pico Ruivo (1862m), via a more accessible route. This 6km hike from Achadas do Teixeira is less demanding than the PR1 trail from Pico do Areeiro, making it perfect for hikers seeking a rewarding yet less strenuous climb. Starting at 1592 meters above sea level, the trail ascends over 300 meters, offering stunning views of Madeira’s central mountain range, including Paul da Serra, Encumeada, and Pico do Areeiro. As you hike, you’ll traverse ancient forests of the Natura 2000 Network, where centennial trees and endemic species like the resilient Urze create a serene natural environment. At the summit of Pico Ruivo, enjoy breathtaking 360° views that extend across the island and the Atlantic Ocean, providing a truly unforgettable experience. Pico Ruivo climb with Adventure Kingdom and local guide

Superb experience, many thanks to Rubin, our extremely knowledgeable, friendly and multi lingual guide explaining safety, our route, the travel to and from our climb, island history; information regarding flora and fauna. Pick up from and return to our hotel was on time and perfect, a clean comfortable mini bus. We chose an option for a tuna salad for lunch, this was extremely tasty, an excellent portion size with water, juice, pastel de nata and chocolate.

Excelent trip and enjoyable views all the way up to Pico Ruivo. Excelent guide told good information having good experience. At sama trip on the way back we visit Rum factory as bonus to this trip.

I have organised this tour (Pico Areeiro to Pico Ruivo than down to Achada do Texeira) in advance from Switzerland, my contact was André who's informations were always up to date. The tour was rescheduled several times due to bad weather, I was always informed in a timely fashion. Just one day before it was finally to take place, a landslide caused the closure of the Areeiro to Ruivo path. I was promptly offered an alternative of Ach.do Teixeira to Pico Ruivo and back to which a I agreed. I was picked up next morning by Fabio, the mountain guide and Claudio, the driver. Both turned out to be great guys who went out of their way to accommodate my every wish, stopping often in the middle of the road to let me make the pictures. Fabio was a source of endless information about the Island, its history, people, geology, flora and fauna, he was simply fascinating to listen to! The hike up the mountain went without a hitch, Claudio,the driver accompanied us. Both of them adapted their pace to mine and were helpful in every possible way, especially on the way back when I was getting tired. We waited on the top for as long as wanted for the clouds to dissipate which unfortunately happened only to a small degree. In spite of that, it was a glorious day for me in the company of two very competent and friendly guys who I can recommend unreservedly.
