We had the best day. Nicholas was an incredible guide. Wonderfully safe driver, super friendly and enthusiastic and just an all round amazing tour guide. If you’re visiting Taipei, this one day tour is a great experience to blow your mind with very different scenery and expedites. Highly recommend and thanks again Nicholas for a great day.
This is the best way to see Taipei in one day and hit all the scenic attractions and experience the city's history and culture. Our tour was made very informative and interesting due to our excellent tour guide Kevin. He was just 2 months on the job but he seemed to be doing this for many years! I would highly recommend this tour!
It was great! My guide, May Ei, really took my preferences into account as we went around the market. I ate so many delicious foods and tried some new ones too of course. I was stuffed by the time we were done. If you like a food adventure that won’t blow the budget, I highly recommend this experience!
When I book a food tour of course I want to sample the local dishes but just as much I want to know who the people are that made the food and why is it special to that community, all the foods of Taiwan have a rich history. Taiwan is a young country and learning about the history,the people and the food is fascinating and our wonderful guide Jean was eager to tell us everything. Tobin James
Overall this was an excellent experience. Our guide Vincent spoke excellent English and was very personable and pleasant. We were picked up at the port in a nice comfortable car. Pre-journey communication on WhatsApp was responsive and helpful. He tailored the tour for us, was flexible, and was a careful driver. He took us for great street food as well, and always found a close parking spot. He had some informative videos to help us understand the history as well. The trip was a great value. Highly recommended.
The tour itself I’m sure would have been lovely (hence the 5 stars) had it NOT been pouring buckets the entire time. That’s not their fault though. Tony, our guide, did his best to stay update but by the time the waterfall rolled around we voted as a group to spend as little time as possible at certain spots. The wind and rain at the geological park really did us in. So, if it’s sunny or cloudy absolutely go!! Beautiful views and beautiful places. If it’s raining hard…. maybe think twice.
I went into this workshop already knowing some Chinese but Ginn really expanded upon my knowledge base! Apart from being a knowledgeable instructor, she’s also very patient and overall lovely. She took my interests into account, and the tea served as delicious. It was a great, relaxing way to spend a rainy Taipei afternoon.
Taipei is fascinating and we enjoyed the sites. Our vehicle was very good, and the bone lunch at a small restaurant was a good experience. However, our driver/guide, while a nice fellow, was did not tell us anything about history, culture, etc. He was quiet and did not act as a tour guide, rather more as a driver. His knowledge of English was not enough to qualify him as a tour guide. One member of our group who speaks Chinese acted as an interpreter, asked questions, etc., since he offered very little information on his own.
Vincent was our private driver/guide for the day. He introduced himself two days prior via WhatsApp and was prompt in picking us up. He was very friendly and accommodated our requests. The van was comfortable for the 5 of us. Even with the pouring rain/wind, Vincent was enthusiastic about taking us places, telling us about the area/history, sharing his local insights, and taking our pictures. He also took us to places with clean bathrooms which was very appreciated. Thanks to Vincent for a great day! 5 stars, highly recommend Vincent and YOLO Taiwan!
My wife and I took this tour last night with Julie as our guide, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The meeting location was easy to find, and since everyone arrived on time, we started right as scheduled. Julie felt like an old friend—warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing the local food scene. She led us through a lively night market and some charming streets, making the whole evening feel immersive and authentic. While the streets and restaurants were bustling, it never felt overwhelming—just the right amount of energy to make it exciting while still being enjoyable. Every stop featured unique and delicious food, and Julie provided great background on each dish and location. She was also more than happy to answer any questions we had, adding depth to the experience. By the end of the night, we were completely full (definitely come hungry!) and so grateful for the wonderful evening. Julie made the tour exceptional, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a more enjoyable itinerary. Highly recommend!
ASK FOR KEVIN, HE IS AMAZING!!! I can't believe how many experiences we managed to cram in one trip without being exhausted. Kevin is the man. He was able to adjust our schedule based on the weather so we got the best possible experience. He's fluent in English and Mandarin and so he talks to all of us between languages consistently. That's meant we all got The full experience in a very effortless way. He would certainly be worth booking a private tour as well as his knowledgeable but also likes to share all the quirks and what makes each location magic in its own way. I only wish I was in typed longer so I could book another trip with him! My main objective was to see the water buffaloes, which unfortunately weren't in the area at the time and is out of anyone's control. But despite this the tour blew me away. Went well above and beyond my expectations.
We were unable to use our tickets at the counter due to the missing QR code. After the counter staff tried to retrieve the QR code several times we have to purchase new tickets at the counter. I sent a mail to the company that issued them, but never got a reply. Also, the fee that Viator charges for this is more than the price as the counter.
We have used Viator for tours etc. in England, Ireland, Argentina, Holland, Spain, France, Italy and now Taiwan, and we have never had anything but fantastic experiences. For this trip to Taiwan we booked this 5 day tour. It was excellent. Alan, our tour guide did a great job, basically a walking encyclopedia of Taiwan. The hotels truly were 5-star, the food was incredible and the locations we visited were so beautiful. If you are considering visiting Taiwan, DO IT. You won't be sorry and book this tour for the best overall tour of the country. We loved Taiwan!
This would be a 5-star tour except for the fact that we paid for an English-speaking tour guide and the guide provided didn’t speak much English at all. Fortunately for us, we had a Chinese speaker in our group that provided translation. The guide was very nice and accommodating. We had asked to go somewhere for lunch and they found a great local restaurant. Overall we really did enjoy the tour.
All tours like this one are entirely in the hands of the guide. Do they know of what they speak, or what you eat? Are they engaging? Interesting, lead you where you are happy to follow? Joseph, was all of these things. Wiling to direct my enthusiasm while guarding against things that might have looked good…but were they…fresh? Very happy to have gone. Ask for Joe!
