This tour doesn't start until 0700 am. If you get there at 0600 am, prepare to sit in the hot sun for an hour. The bus ride back is also scary, the driver talks to his girlfriend and watches music videos instead of the road. Other than that and the green pasta for lunch, it was great to see the canal.
Last minute change of plans due to visitor centre closing in the afternoon (VIP visiting from the States), but vendor was prompt and arranged for changed timing and pick up at airport. Quite well organised overall. However, sadly we didn't see any big ships passing the canal (not sure how the morning timing works) which was explained to us later only. Guide was a little lacking in sharing of knowledge, but overall, still pleasant.
Book this now! We had an amazingly fun evening celebrating our wedding anniversary and touring beautiful Panama! We were on a cruise and had great communication and easy access. Our terrific driver Ronel was great fun, informative and wonderfully thoughtful arriving with party balloons! Ronel ensured us an awsome evening with great memories and fabulous photos! Great day with Ronald (Renaldo). He is from Panama City and his knowledge was extensive. We had a nice walking tour of old town (wear comfortable shoes and they have water). No time to shop so you will have to come back to do that if it’s your thing. Tour of canal was very cool. It’s one thing to hear Ronald talk about it, but another to see the movie and the entire thing come together. It all clicked by the end of the tour. I felt I got a good vibe of the city and the canal, along with all of Panama’s history on this tour.
This was a great tour with Carlos, he kept me laughing the entire time and was a seasoned tour guide who knew all the spots to hit and shared lots of information about the city. He timed the Panama Canal perfectly and we saw one of the largest ships pass through, it was amazing! He also gave a great walking tour of Casco Viejo, which is a beautiful place. Since it was a private tour he made an extra stop for me at Mercado de Mariscos because I wanted to get ceviche. I had a great day and felt super comfortable as a solo woman traveler.
First and foremost, Orlando and his brother are amazing ! Very attentive, help you through it, and are prepared with most things incase you don’t have them. As a New Yorker this is exactly what I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Would definitely do this again.
Book with Ricardo, he is knowledgeable about the Panama Canal and the history of Gatun Lake. On this trip you will actually be alongside the boats you have seen in the Mira Flora locks and the bonus will be going to the different islands to feeds the monkeys!
The experience was amazing from beginning to end. Out tour guide, Javier was personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He took us to the Panama Canal where we learned about the history and watched an IMAX movie about it as well. There were restrooms in the facility to utilize during the tour, as well as a gift shop and more on the history of the Canal. We toured old Panama and we were able to take lots of pictures along the way. We visited the Catholic Church, hat street, and took pictures by the locks. He took us to a vendor who sold shaved ice with fresh fruit and it was amazing, as it was hot this day! There was so much packed into the tour, but it was perfect!!! I definitely learned more about Panama during the tour and would highly suggest anyone visiting to take the tour, as well!
Amazing experience! Seeing sloths up close in the middle of Panama City was unforgettable. Our guide, Enrique, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about wildlife. He made the tour both fun and informative. Highly recommend this tour for nature lovers and families!
