Awesome Adventure on the Dettah Ice Road

Our Ice Road Adventure with Inga was AWESOME. We learned about the formation of the ice on the lake, how the road is created each winter, local uses of the road, and how important the ice roads are to Yellowknife and the surrounding communities. The drive took us from Yellowknife to the indigenous community of Dettah and back, during which there were ample opportunities to stop and play on the road and pose for photos, all while Inga offered up interesting facts and took photos and videos of us. We REALLY enjoyed having Inga as our guide - we got along with her so well and really felt like she was a part of our trip as opposed to just a random guide. We were so excited to find out that she would be a guide for our snowmobile experience the following day, as well. I definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Yellowknife!

Fun tour with good guides

Great fun tour with lovely guides. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the ice road and seeing it up close. We could see the cracks and frozen bubbles in the ice. We even got to visit a local village and meet the Snowking building his snowcastle.
