  • Piazza San Pietro Caveoso (Pass By)

    After enjoying breathtaking views and listening to the incredible and compelling story of the Sassi you will cross the most unspoiled area of the Sassi. You will also discover the less touristy corners and you will arrive in the most beautiful square of Sasso Caveoso, Piazza San Pietro, one of the most evocative panoramic points of the city.

  • Casa Cisterna Sotterranea

    You will visit a typically furnished cave-house museum, a unique chance to see with your own eyes the unhealthy conditions in which local people lived in the cave dwellings of the Sassi until not so long ago. This is the key to understand the most controversial part of the history of Matera, when the city was called the national shame. A visit to the museum is also an opportunity to see an ancient cistern for collecting rainwater and understand the water collection system, one of the most interesting aspects of the city, which will be explained in detail by the guides.

    Walking along an ancient street built on the medieval walls of the city you will admire its beauty and you will understand why so many directors have chosen it as a film set. Great Experience Matera Tour

We spent a few hours with Vito as part of our bike tour itinerary provided by Dario and Giuseppe from Siciclando cycling company. Vito is warm and knowledgeable about this UNESCO site. We enjoyed his personal approach and casual walk through an amazing city. We would give him our highest recommendation.

Wonderful 3 hours spent with Vito. Having grown up in Matera, and with grand parents having lived in the Sassi, Vito had a strong connection to the town and this showed in his understanding the life and history of the area. Taken off the tourist route, we got to see things you would miss without this tour. Also enjoyed the film locations and insights. Vito was great company and responded promptly to our enquires. Even visited the family winery and tried the wine, very nice indeed. Great value and highly recommended
