My 13-year old children were a little wary of this event. I had dragged them to historical site after historical site and they were beginning to seem a little bit bored with all the history.
Enter Maria and Mamas Flavours!
This was a completely different type of experience, and in every way good. The kids were excited to try a lot of different types of local food, my wife was happy to see more of modern life in Greece, and we were all happy with how engaging and welcoming Maria and all the local experts we met were.
The highlight was learning about olives and olive oil, not just through discussion and videos, but with hands on (and mouths on) tasting and analysis. But the snacks, the coffee, the candy, and perhaps most of all, the meal were fantastic.
Greece has thousands of years of history and is justly proud of its culture. But Maria reminded us that the culture is still alive and well today, and it tastes terrific.
