The Do Eat Better Experience food tour is a walking tour around the historical center of La Spezia. The tourist is guided by a "Foodie", a local "buddy" able to explain every detail of the selected restaurants, their preparations, and the relevant history/curiosities. Do Eat Better Experience tours are a mix of high-quality gastronomy as a way of showing Italian culture and lifestyle and a walking experience together with a local friend. This is the reason why we accept small groups only: we want to focus on a genuine exchange and give to each tourist the highest attention possible.     Our tour begins with delicious farinata, a chickpea flour cake, as simple as it is tasty. Your local expert will accompany you to taste it at one of the city's historic places

    We continue with the more traditional “focaccia,” an ever-present snack of all Ligurians, you can eat it at any time of the day. But mind you, only with us will you go to the best bakery in town!

    When one thinks of Liguria, one definitely thinks of pesto. Mandatory to try it! You will also have the chance to taste it with a typical pasta of the area, testaroli. Alternatively, you could also try panigacci, a kind of baked pancake served with cheese or cold cuts. All this in a delightful restaurant, really frequented by locals

    We are in a seaside town, so your next destination will be toward the harbor. Directly from local fishermen, you will taste the famous fried fish, anchovies and squid that will melt in your mouth!

    Finally, the tour will end with a delicious ice cream or dessert from the area. A sweet way to say goodbye

Beatrice is an amazing guide, and introduced us to restaurants and to food we otherwise wouldn’t have experienced. She was kind and gracious, and helped us better understand Italy. Especially import since we are considering retiring to Italy in a few years! Definitely worth the time and money. Amiamo La Spezia!

Manuela was an excellent guide. Her insights into La Spezia, as a local, made our tour all the more interesting. We only had one other couple on the tour which made for a personalised tour and lots of opportunities to ask questions. Manuela is fluent in many languages and she conducted our tour in English. We really enjoyed our tour and the food was excellent.

A great day tasting the local foods, learning how they are prepared and the history of their origin. Our guide Manuela was well prepared and as a teacher she also provided history, humor and personal information that was delightful. We walked the streets tasting the local foods at hidden spots that were delicious. The hot focaccia, la cencian toscana, pesto linguini, fresh fish “catch of the day” and gelato were delicious and an unexpected surprise was a trip to the local market! We highly recommend this tour and would repeat it.
